Stopped here after a hike up at Eagle Falls. Wonderful service and friendly atmosphere. Food was delicious, I recommend getting biscuits and gravy.

I ate at the original café on Tahoe Blvd. I come from a small ag community and I enjoy the "greasy spoon" vibe. The food is fantastic! I feel like I came home to family cooking who enjoy feeding their loved ones.

The food was good, but I just can't give any more stars than 2. The building is small and filthy and has an overpowering smell of mold. We enjoyed the food, but then started to not feel well. My husband ended up puking within an hour afterward. I got an upset stomach as well. Won't be going back.

Service was decent
Asked for medium steak, came out over cooked and dry. Still edible and good for those who like it 100% cooked

Been coming here since I was a kid. The food is still great. The nostalgia is strong here for me as it's very "eggs and ham steak with grandpa" for me.
I hasn't been back in 20 years and it was my first stop this weekend and it did not disappoint. Staff was cheery and the food was great.

I don't get this place. It is not that good. The food was so expensive for what you get. This place is known for its waffles. It says 50 year recipe. I wanted to get the corn bread waffle. I have had corn bread breakfast in the past and it is usually really good. When it was delivered, I tried so hard to hide my disappointment. The waffle was tiny. It looked more like a waffle cone from Baskin robins then it did a breakfast waffle. The plate was almost twice the size of the waffle. On top of that, it did not even taste like cornbread. Another problem is that my order was sooo late. People at my table got their order and 5 minutes later, I was still waiting. Finally when we asked, it came out right away. But it felt like the order given to me was not the right order. Just a oh crap get something to this person. It was such a let down of a place an order, all of it. To charge $12 for a corn bread waffle that is just nearly as large as a silver dollar pancake from IHOP if highway robbery. I really do not get why this place has such high ratings. I was so sad, I love breakfast food. I wish I would have had my breakfast back and my money. Service was ok. A bit pushy and rude. I get it is busy, but I have been to by far busier places and they are not as pushy

Great place for breakfast. Diverse menu, friendly staff, very reasonable prices. Only negative was it's not an easy walk from casinos. Definitely want to drive/Uber to get up there

The Good: Speedy service – Teenage server knew her stuff.
The Bad: Food was ok at best. Restroom was Filthy, urine was all over the floor in a large puddle. The window was open, had NO SCREEN ( Blinds down), & a table of people eating right outside the restroom… I could not imagine sitting for a meal and hearing someone BLOW up the toilet, 5 feet from your table with no glass between you and that throne.

As we were leaving Tahoe for home, early morning breakfast hunger hit both of us as well as our toddler. We Yelp'd for a good suggestion & The Red Hut Cafe (TRHC) came up. We saw the ratings as well as the pictures, loved what we saw and decided to have our breakfast here.
Food: We ordered Chicken & Waffles as well as a simple 2 egg breakfast that had the hashbrowns as well as biscuits with gravy. Now, I cannot stress enough that the waffles were beautiful (taste-wise), chicken was standard (albiet smaller in size than expected), eggs were good but what stole the show was the biscuits and their gravy. We never thought that the butter-laden biscuits with really simple gravy would steal the show. It really put the smile on our tired and still sleepy faces. Highly, highly recommended people!
Service: Great service, they were attentive and really nice people. Seems like a family-run affair which makes it even better. We wanted chai or a simple latte and understandably they didn't have it. Now, the best part was that they redirected me to the cafe next door and told us to bring it here and enjoy it with the food. This is how the service industry needs to support each other. I went over and ordered a chai but that's for a different review and for another day!
Parking: Ample parking in the front and the side. No worries there!
Ambiance: Felt like an older breakfast place vibe. We liked it there, it was slighly noisy like a hustling-bustling cafe should be. Nothing disturbing or intrusive.
Our next Tahoe visit, we definitely plan to visit and have a heavier brunch here!!!!

Sadly hit and miss. Wanted the open outside seats, told no server there so I had to sit at the counter. Asked for the Rosti with crispy bacon, they got close. Asked for extra crispy hashbrowns, potatoes showed up barely cooked, about as white as the eggs. Listening to garbage country radio crackling on a Bluetooth speaker the whole time. Took my time finished the meal and never got a tab so I had to wait at the register while that was figured out. Probably won't be back. We are running out of GOOD local spots in Tahoe, but it's not hard to find better food for the money. Shoulda gone to Freel Perk; great burritos.

What happen to my little old school waffle shop!?!? Been coming here for years. But haven't been here for awhile, I guess. Food was sub par at best. My waffle was a little overcooked and not a perfect waffle like in the past. My chicken looked like some child plate frozen chicken sticks. Not even chicken tenders. Ridiculous!
My wife had a side of sausage that came out cold - not so done. Came back with another plate of sausages. One of the sausages had no business coming out on a plate. Old and burnt! Really!?!?!? What's going on here?
I knocked over my water by accident. The two girls working there... didn't even see it. My wife had to go up to where they were and grab a handful of napkins and start to clean up the mess. It wasn't till mom told the girls to get over there to help clean up when one of the girls came over and finished cleaning up what my wife mostly already cleaned up.
What a let down. I used to looked forward to coming to this little gem. Not such a gem anymore ?

They have amazing waffles!! The patio area is also very nice if you have a dog or just want to eat outside. There are plenty of tables with shaded umbrellas.
