I went here with my mom and sister. I had already eaten, so I just got the marinated olives which were good. My sister got the Mac and cheese as a meal and we all really enjoyed that. We also all got wine and we all liked it (I really liked the Gruner veltliner). Our waitress was nice. The only problem we had was the salad with salami, which my mom got. She tried it, thought the salmi was bad, and immediately had my sister and I try it. We both thought the salami was disgusting and spoiled. When we asked the manager/owner (not sure who it was) about it, he said we just didn't like it. This was very dismissive and he acted like we just didn't like it, when it was obviously spoiled. It was inarguably bad, it tasted like wet dog. Everything else was enjoyable, but this just ruined our experience. The bread was also good but served with ice cold, hard butter. We will not be back.

Very relaxing place with friendly and helpful staff! I got the grilled cheese and tomato soup on a rainy day and it hit the spot!

I think the ambiance of this place is what truly made me love it. It's beautiful, but simple. Although I found the menu to be limited in comparison to most restaurant, I think they have nailed it when it comes to flavor. I had the burger, a few bites, and practically the entire olive oil cake. It was a great night out.

We visited on Thursday night during the South Pasadena Farmer's Market. It was a lovely, unique, and chill setting. We sat outside under a heat lamp and enjoyed being near the bustle of the farmer's market as we ate dinner! The burger and seasonal chicken quesadilla were exceptionally delicious. Simple and quality food!

Been going here for years, great place. Carissa is an honest server ask for her. Great place to visit especially during market Thursdays.

Was really looking forward to eating here tonight and while it says they’re open, they’re not. It seems like this is an ongoing issue based on other reviews. Please fix your hours to reflect your actual open times so people aren’t inconvenienced.

This place was really good! Great for comfort food and a relaxing atmosphere. We got the bolognese pasta, momma’s bread and kimchi rice bowl. All were delicious. The bread was next level though. Definitely order that for your pasta and soups.

What more can one want from a local eatery than to introduce it to a pal visiting from France only to find:1. Peacocks walking along El Centro2. Parrots of Pasadena cackling away about the day they've had3. Servers so genuinely kind who gave us all the time needed in between our pilsners and onion rings with spicy aïoliSunset over South Pasadena. Another winged migration from one part of town to another.Merci, Communal!

This place is hidden and the only real downfall is that it’s not open nearly enough. However what it lacks in availability it more than makes up for a great date location with a nice vibe, yummy comfort food, and great drinks. not to be missed in South Pasadena for sure.
