If you're looking for a quiet, romantic date-night spot where you can actually hear the person across from you, Bistro de la Gare might be exactly what you're looking for. Tucked away on a peaceful Pasadena side street, this little French bistro feels like one of those places you accidentally discover and then keep in your back pocket for special occasions.

Bistro De La Gare is a charming and cozy French restaurant with a lovely indoor and outdoor patio. The restaurant boasts a spacious and beautiful interior, with daily specials displayed on a chalkboard. The menu offers a range of mouthwatering dishes, including the fish with mashed potatoes and heavenly sauce, filet mignon with beets and white asparagus soup, and delicious French meals. The wine selection is also impressive. Friendly and helpful staff, including servers like Marci, provide excellent service. The food includes standout items like onion soup, which is very concentrated and boozy, and the special seafood pasta, Branzino, and beef shank, all of which are beyond delicious. Desserts like the chef's own recommended financier cake with raspberry coulis add to the experience. The restaurant is very cozy and welcoming, making it a great spot for a romantic dinner or a night out with friends, with something for everyone to enjoy. While service can sometimes be slow and prices are on the higher side, the overall quality of food and the warm atmosphere make Bistro De La Gare a memorable dining choice.
