Came here at 11:30 for lunch on MLK holiday. Called for a reservation but they claim to only take walk-ins. Needed to wait for all members of your party before you will be seated. It was quite busy but we were early enough that the wait was long very long at all. Service was decent for a Chinese restaurant. Generally, it's about the food and not the service and this place was no exception. Place is very large having a capacity to hold over 200 patrons. It was very noisy with all of the chatter. Even the carpeted floor did not absorb enough of the noise. Food was decent. Not great or fancy. Just decent and on the more expensive side. I'd say about 25% more than other nearby Dim Sum places. Parking was plenty. Restrooms had seat covers. Good for large parties. Provide take out boxes for leftovers.

I got married here. My third wedding in 2 years. There must be something horrible going on with me that I'm on my third wedding already. Anyway. I had a good time. Shout out to Christy? For her attentiveness to everything we needed. Nice lady. We're from the same village. Good food. Ambiance is 10/10. Fun times.

Food was good, but very pricey. We came on a Wednesday night with a group of 10 and they were able to take all of us which is really nice. We ordered a bunch of things to try and food came out quickly, but just cant get over the price! It's super modern inside so may be nice for larger parties.

We dined here on a Saturday morning because we were craving for dim sum. Ordered the usual spread of all things that make up dim sum, and were surprised by the freshness and quality of every dish brought to our table. There wasn't anything that I didn't enjoy -- I just wished they had the carts that go around the restaurant for the true dim sum experience but I get it. The space is huge so it would be a lot of ground to cover. The menu has some pretty cool items that aren't from a traditional dim sum selection.A true Chinese restaurant through and through -- looks like it's also a popular venue for a family style Chinese dinner, and wedding receptions.

Very busy during the Christmas time but pretty good food still. Can't fault too much on service because of how busy it was but we certainly had to ask a waiter two or three times for a soda and hot sauce

I'm not sure why this place is low rated. I feel like the food is really good but it is a bit pricey! I've come here for dim sum and wedding banquets. Both experiences have great and quick service. It does suck that waiters mainly speak Cantonese and assume anyone that looks Asian speaks it too (I get a bit of judgey relative stares) but I'm probably over thinking it haha. Lots of tables so don't be afraid to come through for dim sum on a weekend!! You'll most likely get a seat with large parties. Plenty of parking onsite too!

This is my go to spot for dim sum. It gets busy but the wait isn't too bad since there are so many tables. It's more high class so it is pricier than some other dim sum places. They also have a fancier take on some classic items which I really like. I'm not a huge fan of asian fusion and I don't feel like this is asian fusion, it's more elevating items rather than white washing it. The one thing I don't like though is that there are some classic items that are completely missing from the menu. Panned fried shrimp and chive dumplings, and not quite sure what the english name is but the huge dumpling that is in soup. So if you want something OG and no thrills, this is not the place. All the items are very good and quality of food is great. The service is amazing and quick! There are a lot of new and cool items to try.

I had my birthday dinner here recently and wasn't too impressed. They were out of a lot of stuff, food was okay but not as good as I was expecting, and we were very rushed by the end of the meal.My dinner was on a Saturday evening. I called a couple days beforehand to reserve a table for 8, and when I requested a reservation of around 6-6:30, I was told it had to be either 5:30 or 7:30. Even 7 wouldn't work. So I made the reservation for 7:30 but wasn't happy about it, as that's later than I typically eat dinner. On the day of, I arrived at the restaurant only to find out they had a wedding banquet going on at the same time. The banquet is on the other side of the restaurant, separated by a thin wall, but you can still hear everything. My friends and I didn't appreciate the loud music coming through the walls at times. If I had known beforehand they were doing a wedding banquet on the same night, I would've picked a different restaurant. They have so many different menus here it's confusing. The main menu is a huge book with lots of pictures. There's also a separate set menu, yet another page of menu with pictures, and a printed receipt detailing out the daily menu. It was honestly quite overwhelming to look at everything. Since we decided not to order from one of the set menus, it took us a good 20 minutes to look at all the menus and order. There was a lot of back and forth with the ordering, which was frustrating. The server kept coming back to our table 4-5 times, each time with a different problem. One chicken dish we tried to order needed to be reserved ahead of time (why couldn't he tell us this when we tried to order it??). A couple of dishes we wanted were not available or sold out, such as the steamed eggs with clam and soy sauce chicken. They were out of asparagus for one of the dishes and asked if they could substitute with another veggie. And it goes on and on. The constant server interruptions broke up the table conversation. And finally, here's what we ordered (* marks my favorites):* Sweet corn soup with chicken ($27) Crispy fish skin with salted egg yolk ($20)White cut chicken Roast duck ($38)* Wagyu beef with asparagus ($55)Vietnamese crab ($60)Steamed copper rockfish ($35/lb at 1.7 lb)* Chicken fried rice ($22) * Sauteed pea sprouts ($24)I wasn't happy with the service. The restaurant closes at 9:30, and starting 9 pm they started giving us orange slices for dessert as a not so subtle hint even though half the group was still eating. Closer to 9:15 they also started asking about the check and boxes while some of us, including me, were still eating. I stopped eating before I was full as I felt rushed.I wish I had been able to make the reservation for earlier, around 6-6:30. Two hours wasn't enough for us to order and eat and get out the birthday cake at the end too, and I didn't like feeling so rushed at the end.

(Tony Leung Chiu-wai voiceover)When I'm in town from filming overseas, I seek the vibe at the hidden gem HL Peninsula Restaurant on Dubuque in South SF. It's also a potentially exciting quick 3 min walk from the Grand stop.Tim & Leon warmly greeted us. It's as if they were welcoming a very fit Tony Leung and a very young Gong Li...wait. Ni hăo ma?Sautéed Crab Vietnamese Style. They had me at Vietnamese. And I do love Style. We "should think about the consequence of your [culinary] magnetic field being a little too strong." Such a Gorgeous presentation! Swifties would agree. The flavors were superb & nuanced. You can tell the crab was über fresh! Warning: Wear a bib. It's deliciously messy. mmhmm. But creating the best flavored mess is usually the most fun. Isn't that right, ladies? Ooo la la.A4 Wagyu Beef & Asparagus w/ Black Pepper. I'd really much prefer A6...Haha! Thought it was a typo. It's a pinch leaner than A5, but still super succulent and delish. Incredible mouth feel, like a gorgeous female dentist examining...oops. TMI. Never mind. Focus people! Focus on the subtle black pepper and luxurious heartiness of the A4. Wow! The asparagus is a nice healthy touch.Scallop Fried Rice. I don't normally order fried rice, but when I do it'll be HL Peninsula's! This rice was an entrée on its own. Platinum level elegance. Fabulous textures. Delectable flavors!Hen hăo chī!We had such a great, delish time! HL is a magical place! (And yes, the IG supermodel agrees.)Xiè Xiè, Tim & Leon!Would order everything again!Woohoo!Zàijiàn!

Attended a wedding banquet at this restaurant. The food was surprisingly good for such a big production. Ambiance is of course beautiful with the extra touches of flowers and wedding decorations. Even without those things, the place looks very elegant. I don't know how many people attended, but we took over the entire back section, and each round table sits 10.Only negative was that it was a bit hot. I think air circulation could have been better. Service courteous.

I always come here with my family for lunch and also for dinner. They have really good dim sum and yes it's on the pricier side but I always enjoy it. Service is always good and the inside of the restaurant is beautiful. Sometimes for dim sum places I would like their lunch only and not their dinner, but HL I like both. I highly recommend coming here as it's one of my top rated dim sum places in the bay.

Parking lot is very easy to find and lots of parking. The lobster and noodles was a hit along with the sea bass. Sea urchin fried rice was interesting and tasty. The sea Cucumber was quite fresh.

I came here for a family wedding and the ambiance is very nice! They have tall ceilings compared to a lot of restaurants. The staffs are very busy all night, but it's the service we expect. They just dropped off the food and distributed the soup and that's about it. Food wise everything is pretty standard:sliced chicken with mushroom and veggie (5/5)It's a dish that is hard to find at restaurants nowadays, so I am excited to see it.Roasted baby pig (5/5)The skin is pretty crunchy and the meat is soft. Seasoning is good.Sweet and sour pork with crab puff (3/5)There is not a lot of meat and the sauce is too sweet. The crab puff is very good though, very hot and the seasoning is goodAbalone and veggie (3/5)The veggie is pretty good, but the sauce is on the salty side and the abalone is too hard to chew.Peking duck (3/5)The flavor is good but the skin is too softCod (3/5)A little overcooked and the sauce doesn't complement the fish.Ambiance (5/5)Love the tall ceiling and dance floor. My only complaint is the speaker is too loud.

Food was just ok for the price. I would say they are a little bit overpriced especially for the pig. Not only we need to pre-order it and also the server told us that we need to inform them about 30 mins before we wanted it. We did everything and the pig still came out too chewy and not very crunchy. We were promised with a bigger room when we made reservations but then they cramped us in a way smaller room. We know for a fact that they could divide the room however they want but they just won't do it. That's very annoying. They said yes to everything when you made reservations but they won't keep up with it. On top of that, they will charge you service fee regardless of the service they provided. The only reason I'm not giving 1 star is the rest of the food was ok and the decorations was ok.
