Great place to sit by the water and enjoy a sourdough bread filled with clam chowder or tomato basil soup. Both delicious.

Who doesn't love getting things at Boudin? I got the turtle at Boudin to make a sandwich the next day! Service was smooth. I wouldn't say they were the most friendly, but the weekends are busy and maybe they were stressed. They got the job done. The bread was delicious. It's Fisherman's Square. It was crowded. But we weren't there for the ambiance. We were there to buy baked goods!

The original Boudin bakery where you can see the bakers kneading dough and creating fun, animal shaped sourdough bread. I had the clam chowder in a bread bowl, and the soup was very flavorful and filled with lots of clams, and the bread bowl was fresh with a perfect crust as well. Staff are very friendly and attentive even in the cafe and casual seating areas.

I can't believe how much changes in a year. I used to dislike sourdough and now I'm sourdough's biggest fan. In fact, I'm going to learn how to start making sourdough at home. Visit number two meant I had to try something new and that something new was crab chowder. I can't believe how much I liked this especially since they're more known for clam chowder. The bread bowl was delicious as always and is a must if you're ordering soup. I also tried the French dip deluxe which was delicious but it could've used a little bit more horseradish mayo to add some acid to the mix. The chicken breast with honey sriracha glaze has a generous amount of chicken and the sweet and every so slightly spicy sauce that covers the chicken and bread is delicious. I don't think many people order this but this is your sign that you should if you're not in the mood for a bread bowl (that will always be choice #1 for me). Boudin Bakery is a staple when visiting the Fisherman's Wharf and it doesn't disappoint.

My first review of the year goes to Boudin in San Francisco. My fiancé and I got a couple gift cards for Christmas and decided to check this place out because we have never been to the San Francisco location. They have a beautiful staircase that leads to the upstairs sit down area, which has an alcohol and oyster bar. We were sat instantly at a window with a view of Alcatraz and the ocean. We were greeted almost right away and knew what we wanted so we placed our orders. I ordered the crab mac & cheese, and my fiancé ordered their famous bread bowl with clam chowder. For our appetizer, we ordered the sourdough garlic bread, and calamari. For our drinks, I ordered their limited time specialty peppermint snowball cocktail and my fiancé ordered the espresso martini. Both drinks were refreshing and delicious in their own way. The food came out nice and hot in under 10 minutes. The calamari was cooked perfectly with a nice golden crisp, but I only wish they came with some type of aioli sauce. The garlic bread was soft and fluffy with the right amount of garlic. The crab Mac n cheese was made with cork screw noodles; it had a good amount of sauce as well as Dungeness crab in each bite. I didn't get to try my fiancés clam chowder but she said it was delicious and filling with the bread bowl. Overall, our bill came up to $123 which I thought was fair. The restaurant was huge and looked like it could accommodate large parties. Make sure you bring your parking ticket if you park below the restaurant as they do validate at the host stand. This review is for our server and sadly I can't remember his name. He was amazing, never an empty glass or bread basket. Really friendly and on his game. The food in the restaurant it's ok. Wish we would have just stayed in the bakery area where I could have got a turkey sandwich. Maybe next time. The bread here can not be beat!

Boudin lies along one of my running routes in the city, and always smells like fresh sourdough. I recently enjoyed the classic Tomato Soup in a Sourdough Bread bowl. While the area is a little touristy, its hard to argue with this reliable, classic combination. The lines are usually long, but service is quick and I always worth getting my bread fix.

It's a San Francisco staple and while it's lost its local feel and has become more of a tourist trap it's still a must stop. Sadly my bread was so hard when I got home I tossed it but the stop is a must!

Traditional and yummy sourdough bread. We had the Clam Chowder in bread bowls. As it was a rainy day that hit the spot for our lunch. I split a bowl with my adult daughter and both of us were satisfied. Bought extra rounds of bread to take for our picnics in Napa over the weekend. Bread stayed fresh and tasty!

Decent view of the bay. Place is nice and open. Service was passable, expected more as we waited over 10 minutes after being handed menus, and it wasn't busy Food was fast and fresh. If you don't like sourdough, there is still a good menu Dungeness crab sandwich was good, generous on the crab The crab bisque in bowl was amazing, love the combo Caesar salad was very good. Bottom line, don't fill up on bread, it's real easy to do

we ordered a clam chowder in sour dough bread bowl but were disappointed in the amount and quality of the clam chowder. we have been here several times in the past but this time, the clam chowder barely had any clam in it, was very small amount in the bread, was very thin and soupy, and contained a lot of corn. Basically we ate lots of sour dough with a little clam chowder. I would recommend getting clam chowder from another place in the Wharf or if you want to eat at the Boudin, try a sandwich or something else. I wish I had a positive recommendation for the clam chowder at this place as this restaurant has been around for a long time and I expect more from it. I hope management takes my constructive comments seriously.

Boudin is one of San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf's center and staple and a definite must-stop! I will admit that as many times as I have come through (be it a tourist or a tour guide) I have not once stepped in here. Since Big Bro and I were doing a sorta-last run in SF (at least for a long time) I thought no better time than to come by than now. A bowl of clam chowder in Boudin bread was a must. Big Bro also took interest in the pastrami melt. So we got both. He wanted water and I went for a beer. Self serve for utensils, napkins and condiments. Tables are pretty much free for all. There are plenty inside and out for a random Monday morning. We got our goodies and opted to sit outside (on Jefferson.) Had to - it was a really nice day! I watched and waited for Big Bro's verdict. After a couple of spoonfuls of the chowder, his first words were, "Yum. So much potatoes." (Insert sarcasm here.) I was surprised at his lack of enthusiasm, so I gave it a try. And he was right: where were the clams?!? (For real, though, we didn't see a single clam in that whole bread bowl!) We switched plates and he ate half the pastrami sammich. Once again, Big Bro comments, "Yum. So much coleslaw." (Same sarcastic tone.) I agree. It kinda overpowered the pastrami. Bread was good, though! FOOD: 3. Mediocre at best. SERVICE: 3. Not a lot of interaction. VALUE: 3. Fair, being a tourist spot and all. PARKING: It's a challenge. There are parking structures nearby, and there's a parking lot available. But it might be difficult especially on peak seasons. Plan accordingly OVERALL: 3. At best. They have tons of merch for those who want souvenirs and such. Welp! At least we got to try it. Curious no more...

Absolutely love this place! The tomato soup in the bread bowl is definitely worth trying. Even if it is crowded, the food doesn't take too long to arrive. Try and sit outside if the weather permits, its so much fun. Its our must visit place when ever we are in San Francisco.

Being that we were a large party, I appreciated that we were able to be accommodated right away, especially with that being a popular touristy spot Clam chowder will get me weak at the knees anytime it's mentioned...adding it to a bread bowl though? *insert starry eyed emoji* I really enjoyed my dish. My family was very pleased with their orders as well, they ordered the Rustic Tomato soup and Beef Chili, and paired theirs with a bread bowl too. I can't wait to go back b/c after looking at their menu, I feel like I only scratched the surface with the good eats they have to offer.

Have spent 2 weeks in frisco, eaten at 20+ restaurants all over the city spent a small fortune. This meal was the 1st time we have both been satisfied with the food and we are not fussy people. We'll done guys shame it's our last day here.
