I stayed at Sonesta Select San Francisco Airport Oyster Point Waterfront from May 22 to May 25, and my experience was deeply disappointing.
Check-In Experience:
I arrived at the hotel around 11:00 PM, exhausted from my travels, only to be met with indifference at the front desk. When I asked basic questions about breakfast hours, Wi-Fi access, and property amenities, the clerk brusquely told me to “ask tomorrow morning” each time. There was no welcome, no orientation of the property—just a curt dismissal that set a poor tone for my entire stay.
Room Assignment:
I had paid specifically for a king bed room with a sofa bed, but was assigned an accessible king-only room. At that late hour I was too tired to argue, so I slept and addressed the issue in the morning. When I spoke with the manager, I expected at least an apology—but instead I got excuses and a rude attitude. He begrudgingly moved me, but the replacement was even worse: directly adjacent to the highway, so loud that I could barely sleep, and with holes in the walls that made the room feel unmaintained.
Breakfast “Included”:
I prepaid for breakfast when booking, expecting a reasonable spread. What I got was a single pastry plus a choice of coffee or juice—no espresso drinks, no hot food, no options at all. The rate I paid for that “breakfast” was exorbitant given the meager offering.
Overall Impression:
Between the unfriendly check-in, the incorrect room type, the manager’s unprofessional behavior, and the disappointing breakfast, I left Sonesta Select with a sense of frustration rather than refreshment. I will not be returning.
This place was priced right and is very clean and very nice. Rooms were great and staff top notch!! Would 100% stay here again.
We found a bed bug in one of the beds in our suite and the front desk was completely unhelpful. We were not given an apology or any helpful solutions. We asked for a new room (even if it was a downgrade) and we were dismissed. We asked for a partial refund because we are not comfortable using the suite to its full extent and we were dismissed again. Truly terrible and uncomfortable experience
A bit farther out but well worth it. Recently renovated. Reasonable rate (<100 USD). Room was spacious and comfortable. Staffs were awesome especially the gentleman at the front. Beats staying inside the city. Highly recommended.
Nice view, comfortable room. Walls are very thin so expect to listen to whatever your neighbor is listening to all night and to hear everyone's conversation in the hallway loud and clear.
Pros: Had to go to UCSF and was from out of town. They are close enough, (15 minute drive), with good pricing. All closer hotels were more than double the price. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Very easy check in.
Cons: Front desk person was nice, however, they spoke softly and had on a mask so they were a little hard to understand. There was no posting as when breakfast would begin and I missed it due to having to leave before 7:00am. the Ice Maker didn't work. No restaurants or fast food close by.
Smells like weed though other than that it's good

I recently had an incredible stay at the Sonesta Hotel in San Francisco, and I cannot recommend it highly enough! From the moment I arrived, the service was exceptional. They allowed me to check in early, which made my arrival smooth and stress-free. The staff were all incredibly friendly and attentive, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
A special shoutout to Keith at the front desk – he was fantastic! Not only did he greet me with a smile, but he also offered to hold my carry-on bag since my flight wasn’t until 7 PM. This thoughtful gesture allowed me to explore the city without the hassle of lugging my bag around.
Every team member I encountered was genuinely nice, making my experience even more enjoyable. Thank you so much for making my stay memorable! I will definitely be back whenever I’m in town.
All smiles! 😊😊😊😊✌️
The hotel room was nice and clean the showers were nice pressure! Only complaint would be that the elevator had words keyed into it all over the walls and everything and the elevator was really sketchy sounded like you were going to break it even a little movement it shook. Other than that the hotel was nice. No pool even though the sonesta next door has one and no breakfast but the place next to them also the Sonesta has pool and a breakfast. It’s not fair to the people who don’t want to pay extra for the full kitchen they should have it flip flop where the hotel that has no kitchen should have breakfast and the hotel with the kitchens should have paid for breakfast.
Pricey hotel without the breakfast.

Nice rooms and we got a great view!
The person at the front desk hung up on me when I called to ask them to send me an itemized receipt for reimbursement. She was unwilling to work with me to figure out why Sonestas system was unable to find my name when I just stayed there 2 weeks ago. I gave my name and my confirmation number.
Customer service is a big part of a business. Shame on her for not willing to work with someone who would have been a long-term customer since I travel to SF often.
AC unit was very musty and reeked of mildew. Otherwise the room was clean.
I’ve stayed in countless hotels over the years, but this one ranks among the worst. The service was subpar, and the rude, unhelpful staff made the experience even more unpleasant.
Despite booking a stay for over seven days, I requested an early check-in due to my early-morning flight. Unfortunately, upon arrival, they flat-out refused, citing room availability. However, to make matters worse, they didn’t even provide my room at the standard check-in time. That was just the beginning. Throughout my stay, which lasted more than a week, I encountered constant negativity. The staff treated me more like an inconvenience than a paying guest. Every small request I made was either dismissed or met with refusal.
Even after checking out, the poor service continued. I’ve been trying to obtain my checkout receipt for over a week—a receipt they promised to send within one or two business days. Repeated attempts to contact the front desk or sales representatives went unanswered, with my voicemails being completely ignored. Out of frustration, I finally called their reservations line (pretending to book a new stay), and only then did someone answer. I requested the receipt again, but I have no confidence that I’ll actually receive it.
Hotels are supposed to make a guest’s stay comfortable and hassle-free, but this hotel does the exact opposite. If there were an option to give them a rating below zero, I would.
Stayed here for a night so I can be at the airport at 4am. Beds were comfy room was average size. We had a balcony and the view was great.
