Service was excellent. I had not eaten here in awhile. I usually come for dinner. There used to be a heavy set elder woman who works here. I didn't see her or maybe they changed owner? My companion and I ordered breakfast. I had bacon and eggs and he had ham and eggs. While eating my breakfast, I noticed one of the cooks using his hands to put bacon on each plates. My bacon was luke warm as well as my friend's ham. He noticed the butter on the bread tasted peculiar. An hour after my breakfast I had diarrhea three times. My companion had the same thing too! I'm wondering was it the butter? Food should always be handled with utensils!!! Temperature of the food was not hot enough to deter bacteria. We are not coming back!
This is one of my most favorite Americana diners ever. Huge menu great prices boat load of food for the $$$. Wait staff is very nice. This is a family owned business and a family oriented long time haunt for all of SSF area folks. The only thing missing is a huge line of semi's or CHP's parked out front. Great coffee too! Eat here you won't be sorry.
I've been coming to Gunter's since I was a small child in the 80's. I love this place, it always feels like home! The food is always comforting and the friendly faces are always a breath of fresh air. The pasta with meat sauce is always a good choice. I don't eat meat anymore but that is one of the dishes with meat I miss. They also have a really good garden burger.
Great breakfast, generous portions and a homemade taste. Friendly service too.
You better be hungry, because you are definately be full when you leave! Servings are massive and good.
This is a sweet diner experience. Friendly staff, and plenty of space to sit and enjoy your coffee. It is busy, but not crowded. They even had some outdoor tables available, if you wanted to dine outside. My first meal here was breakfast. The coffee was decent. The pancakes were superb: fluffy and just right. I had a side of bacon, and the bacon was thick and meaty. (sometimes at a diner, they give you bacon that's almost tissue paper thin). The meal was delicious. I'm looking forward to trying some lunch items, and exploring the breakfast menu even further.
Pretty expensive, it was a $30 breakfast... but I guess supporting a mom & pop rather than a chain... It's ok.Chief cooks the steak a little deep... Asked for,,, Medium rare to medium, there was no pink left!!!
Nice neighborhood spot for breakfast or lunch. Good food, plenty of parking spots.
I drove by many times and wanted to give the place a try. The place had dine in inside and kept social distance ok. It was around 10 AM and after looking at the menu I ordered the Huevos Rancheros…big disappointment!! The eggs were sitting on a greasy tortilla with cheese on top of them and four small pieces of tomato with two spoonfuls of sautéed onions, Freddie’s beans, rice and a dollop of sour cream, guacamole and salsa. The ranchero sauce was missing, this is usually a sauce made with tomatoes and onions and herbs, I didn’t made a big deal out of it because I figured the place was short on tomatoes, the server was very nice that’s why I’m giving one star. By far this is the worst rendition of huevos rancheros.
I am not sure why I've haven't done a review on this place since I've been eating here for at least 15 plus years, oh well better late than never. The last time I ate here was pre pandemic era, it was always a great place to eat with large portions and awesome prices. I returned today and found it changed in a semi good way, the place looked cleaner and less cluttered, but their prices have gone up way too much! $13.00 for a French toast combo seems too much, but I've notice many restaurants raising their prices, plus they also charge a fee when paying with a credit card?. The food was still good, the service excellent and the restaurant was extremely clean, which are all pluses. I do like the food, but will not return as often as before.
Great place!! Haven't been there in over a year (due to Covid19) but was very glad to experience the same excellent food quality, decent portion sizes, & friendly, courteous staff, just as I remembered it!An excellent dining experience I have always had at Gunter's.My recommendation is. . . . A Dining Experience for your pleasure. Exactly as a meal away from home should be!!!*Definitely a Must Try*
Awful. Service from start to finish was not good. Would give it a zero if I could. Employee who took order over the phone was rude I explained to him twice what I wanted to make sure order was correct as last time I ordered it was not. I checked the food when it was delivered and it was not what I ordered. I called to advise that the order was wrong and he hung up on me. He argued with me advising what I ordered was what I got. OMG. Went in person the next day to address the issue and basically was told I would need to come back to talk to the manger. I advised I did not want my money back just wanted them to be aware of his rudeness. The employee who took my order is a nephew of the owner. Come here if you want attitude!!!!!!!
Horrible customer service. Order was called in and went to pick it up. Checked order when I got home and it was not correct so I called to order was not correct. Employee Jesus who took the order started arguing with me saying what I ordered was exactly what I received. No sorry - nothing. To add insult to injury he hung up on me. Needless to say: DESPIERTA Y HUELE LAS ROSAS USTED NECESITA PROPORCIONAR UN MEJOR SERVICIO Translation for above, wake up and smell the roses, you need to provide better service!
I love this restaurant! All the week and weekend waitress are AWESOME! The food is Excellent! Thank you for being now open for dine in! . We were so happy that all the local costumers support this restaurant!
