“Flavas Jamaican Grill is a true hidden gem in South San Francisco, conveniently located near the airport and hotels. While the restaurant is small, and parking can be a challenge (you might need to park down the street), the food more than makes up for any inconvenience. I highly recommend ordering ahead, especially during the evening, as the space can get crowded with customers and delivery drivers. If you're dining with a family, the limited seating may not be the most comfortable, but the incredible food makes it worth it.
The jerk salmon is the star of the menu perfectly cooked with a smoky, tangy heat that melts in your mouth. It's hands down the best salmon I’ve ever had, with flavors that are bold yet perfectly balanced. The jerk chicken is also a standout, and the sides like dirty rice and plantains are the perfect complements, creating a delicious harmony of flavors.
If you’re feeling adventurous, don’t miss out on the oxtail or the wings both are packed with rich, authentic flavor. Pair your meal with one of their imported Jamaican sodas or a ginger beer for a truly immersive experience.
As someone from Fresno, where Jamaican food is nonexistent, Flavas has been my first and only Jamaican food experience and it has set the bar incredibly high. The flavors are vibrant and comforting, giving you a true taste of Jamaica. Other patrons rave about their curry goat and daily specials, which I plan to try on my next visit.
