When the P bus drops me at the Oval, I make my way through a trail of forest and trees. “I wandered lonely as a cloud that floats on high o’er vales and hills, when all at once I saw a crowd, a host, of golden daffodils.” These lovely clouds are my fellow cohorts, workshopping our poems—our triolets and villanelles. But sometimes I wish we could study the classic poets instead of listening to earnest student work and politely encouraging what feels like mediocrity.
Lathrop Café is decent. It has lovely staff, decent coffee, good cookies and pastries made in store, and loads of quiet space to work and talk. A lot of students and professors use it for casual interviews, working on laptops, things like that. It's clean, spacious, quiet, and friendly. The cooked food, however, is really not great. I like the breakfast sandwich, but otherwise I'd generally avoid it. I go to Lathrop a lot, but rarely eat there. I think you should...
It's a great place to work long hours with very helping and friendly people and staffs around. Media suits are very limited though and the technical support is not for multimedia problem solving. But its very homely and perfect to work alone. Its nothing like the MIT media lab. Its Stanford's own little place gwith a techlounge.
