Disappointed. I waited for 15 minutes for the shrimp and rice order at 1:20pm (no other customers) and was told after 10 minutes of waiting that there was no rice, only noodles. This is what I got, for 17.95. Salty, spicy.

I ordered a catfish with bone. The fish was overcooked, the catfish used was a large catfish which should have been thrown away. The skin was so tough you could not chew it. There was very little meat on it, what meat there was was like a very dark meat which i have never seen on catfish. I do not recommend you order this until the compay buys the right catfish to cook as bone in.

Some of the food is bland e.g the catfish is crispy but lacks flavor, the collard greens is delicious but they serve it with the broth and not a lot greens. It’s served with a really dry wheat bread as opposed to Hawaiian bread roll ( just a preference). I do like their cakes, but it’s a wait sometimes and they recently added another register. I just hope the added more cooks in the back.

I've been on a fish mission for quite sometime.
Ive found places that were closed down very disappointed 😞
I was at lunch in Modesto and this topic came up. And wolah. I continued my exploration with great satisfaction.

Nicely done JJs. Not over fried. Clean fry. I can tell when oil is over used. NOT THE CASE TODAY. Clean. I'll be back. Thank you. πŸ†πŸ’―βœ”οΈπŸŽˆ

The best fish in town! A little more than I thought we would pay but you get a lot of food and it is the best fish I've ever had. I had the catfish. The prawns were good too!

The food was delicious; I enjoyed the red snapper and wings with fries. For dessert I enjoyed banana pudding cake. The service was on point and very considerate. Definitely worth the wait and definitely a regular food spot for me.

I live in Los Angeles, so yesterday was my first time eating at JJ's, while I was visiting family in Stockton. I spent $44 on fish, chicken, and shrimp. The only thing that was worth eating was the shrimp, and fries. The chicken tasted as if it was starting to go bad right before they cooked it, the fish was fresh, but it was mushy, with NO crunch or seasoning. In spite of all the disappointment with the food, the customer service was excellent!

Came here for some last minute soul food and this place came in clutch! The fish and red beans & rice were good. I got a lot of food for 20 bucks and the gentleman behind the counter was super chill! Will definitely come back!

Ordered food went home and the fish chicken and shrimp was old. How can you not give the customer freshly cooked food?
