Ordered online for pickup. Order was not even started for 1/2 hour after scheduled pickup time. Didn't put my 2 desserts in the bag. Had to ask for them after checking my bag. Got home, most of the food was so overcooked it was not edible. Threw 3/4 of it in the trash. Almost $50 worth of food in the trash. I don't know what happened to JJ's. We've been going for years. We will never go back.

Always great food! My boyfriend got fish tonight and I got the gizzards though. I tried one of the scallops and really thought I died and went to heaven. Perfectly breaded, perfectly seasoned and absolutely delicious! Their service is fast, friendly and not over the top for the type of business.

Ok, my first time at JJ's. The clerk at the front was awesome. He was helpful and attentive. I asked questions and he answered them. So, I went with a sampling of items, catfish chunks, deep fried shrimp and chicken as a three piece meal. Two sides; deep fried mushrooms and jalapeño poppers. Lastly, I got a shrimp and rice. Dish 1; Aside from the chicken being a little dry everything was full of flavor. The catfish chunks were delish. The clerk told me to mix the tartar sauce with hot sauce and it was absolutely the compliment to the flavor profile. The deep fried mushrooms were totally bomb. They could've been cooked a little less as it seemed they were on the verge of being overcooked but still very tasty. The poppers were overcooked and lacking some of the cheese that should've been in them. Now the shrimp and rice. Flavor was very good. However, it was nuclear hot (temperature wise). The shrimp continued cooking in the hot rice and became rubbery. Flavor was till bomb. Dude in the kitchen needs a little quality control for consistency. I was the only person in there initially and it took 25 minutes to get me my food. If it had been busy I could easily see that time frame being extended. I will give them another shot because it was good enough for another try. Enjoy the food search! Peace and Love!

The sole catfish and tilapia is sold as the same disgusting nasty fish at the very least the oysters was half way descent...The fish is so not fresh my second visit and done!!!

I’m not sure what makes me think it’s better every time I go and it’s not. It’s been a total of 5 times that I have returned my orders. Either they give me someone else’s orders till now today they gave me buffalo fish stating that it was catfish. When buffalo fish bones are completely thicker and the shape of the fish is different than catfish. Very bad service and inconsiderate of a customer driving back and forth. Never again. Check your food before you leave seriously
The food was OK when I come back again probably not Service was excellent when we talk to the cashier gave us a lot of recommendations. The ambience in the restaurant was cold. It was a rainy day. Wish you could've been a little warmer and felt a little more comfortable saw a lot of people come in and out there was only one other person in the restaurant with us Overall question would I come back? Probably not the food was bland.

If i could give this zero stars i would. I lived in Sac from 2014-2016 and frequently visited JJ's during that time. Being from the deep south i was always in search of good fried seafood and JJ's was my go-to place. I recently moved back to Sac and my first stop was JJ's. This may have been the worst food i've ever had in my life. I ordered catfish with fries and fried okra. Hard to mess up right? Wrong! None of the food had a grain of seasoning, and it was flat out disgusting. The worst part was the okra, which is one of my favorite foods prepared in various ways. The okra, again unseasoned, had a SUPER weird, earthy taste, and instead of what one would expect from taking a bite into okra it had a straw-like texture. I don't play about my food. I will never ever go back to this place again.

I've had this place a few times, and it's not bad, and I've ordered it on Uber Eats before. Well, i guess now they deny any orders on Uber Eats, and it takes about 20 minutes for them to deny it after they've accepted the order. If you aren't going to accept an order, then take yourself off Uber Eats.
