I've been going to this place for over 20 years. The food is good. It hasn't changed over the years. The people know me and know what I want. People don't believe that I get a dish that African Americans eat and I don't cook it anymore. I learned that they fry it. When I or my mother cooked it we boiled it. They also have great asada burritos.

I've been coming to La Victoria since I was a young child. My husband and I live in Las Vegas however, every time we're in Stockton, we always stop by and grab something. It could be drinks, clothing, decor, kitchen supplies and food, of course! My husband, who is native to Stockton as well, would come as a young child with his grandpa. We talk about La Victoria to our friends back home in Vegas and tell them how everything about the store is amazing, from the food to the family running the business. The store has deep roots for both our families. You'll have nice conversation in store with the mom and daughters, who remember their customers; and the atmosphere is truly unique and inviting. A lot of love goes into their food and relationships that are appreciated for generations.

As a long time customer it saddens me to post a negative review, but with that said I feel a business should take accountability for the service and food products they distribute. After purchasing an order of rice and beans and getting to home to chow down. The sudden sour taste and unpleasant smell was undoubtedly noticeable. After having to throw everyone's plates out I felt that it's only right to address the matter as it appears it's been an issue in the past. I don't feel the need to request a refund but only ask that those in the kitchen not ignore that if their food smells a bit off it should be tossed and not serve for consumption and sale.
