Mezzo Ristorante

Went for a corporate event. They were being very tight with the servings and what they brought out to our table. We Had 9 people at our table. They brought out one plate of bread for our entire table and the slices were tiny. Everyone got one piece. They brought out two other appetizers, it was the same. It was as if they were afraid they were going to run out of food. When the entrees came, the Bolognese pasta was very salty. The chicken Marsala came on a tray and it was hard to figure out what it was. I thought they were a potatos cut long ways. They were actually chicken cutlets, a clear sauce with some micro mushrooms that were not cut up. It was like an octopus of mushrooms. I make chicken Marsala and it is breaded, this was a hockey puck.. I took one bite and that was enough. The meat was tough. The one thing that was good was the pasta with the white sauce. I'm very surprised the food was of this quality. I had been there years ago when it was a Mediterranean restaurant. Thinking it still was, I told my friend, that is why the food isn't that good because it's a Mediterranean restaurant and they're trying to make Italian food. ..Now I see them on Google and it is really an Italian restaurant 🫣🤷

Great food and service. Our 2nd time here. Hector, was a attentive and a kind waiter. I will definitely request him next time I bring my family. Best carbonara here in the USA. The guanciale was perfectly toasted. The shallots were sweetly caramelized with white wine. Plus the kale was a nice addition. They gave me dessert for no charge. It was my birthday. The best restaurant in Stockton, CA for sure. We will be back. Don't have to go to North Beach un Sfo. For very gourmet Italian food! Thanks Mezzo! 😀

Good food.. Nice night out with a friend from D.C. Friday evening night out, bar area was crowded, opted for outdoors with heater. Servers seemed distracted yet given the crowd it was understandable.... food made up for this. Would go back again for sure.

Great local place to have a cocktail and dinner, with some nice wine. Service can be slow in the evening. Lunch is good.

Outstanding service and food. It was our first time there but we are sure to return. Appetizer, Caesar salad with white anchovies, rigatoni bolognese, ravioli special, short rib tagliatelle, finished with salted caramel gelato and pistachio cannoli was amazing. What a great surprise.

I've been to Mezzo a few times this year, either with coworkers or friends, and it never disappoints! The food is great, and Tiramisu is amazing. However, this trip was not the best experience because of the service. Our waitress was very attentive, but they seemed rushed, as did the rest of the staff. This was observed when another waiter bussing (did not wait on our table or bring out our food) tables came over and took one of our party's plates without asking and proceeded to box it up when she was mid-bite. This surprised our waitress and ruined the whole vibe from there on. We stayed and had the Tiramisu for dessert because it is that good, but this was really a repulsive move on behalf of customer service, which was reflected in the tip. I hope this was a one-off night because the place is great, but I think I will take my money elsewhere for the interim.

The kitchen was obviously having an “off” night - we sat down at 5:45 and didn't receive our meals until 7:20. Mixed reviews on the entrees - some liked their choice while others did not.

This place has become a new favorite of mine. It's always a pleasure to eat here and it is clear the chef has an eye for the details. The dishes are modern and aim to hit all the notes, yet are recognizable and not stacked inches high. The menu changes by the season, so the menu never gets dull. Service is very friendly.

In particular, their pasta dishes are clearly made to order. My favorites are the crab cakes, short rib ragu, and salmon on black rice. Again, menu is seasonal so these items may not always be available - but try them when they are!

My only complaint is that the specials can be really hit or miss.

First time at Mezzo and it was a fantastic experience! The atmosphere was welcoming, and the food was delicious. Our server, Hector, was great. He was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and made some excellent recommendations. Thanks to him, we had a perfect evening. We'll definitely be back!

grassfed burgers were dry and not tasty like in the past. the calamari was just deep fried batter with very little calamari. the coffee martini was so bad we sent it back. i m a big fan of Mezzo but this was the worst meal i have ever had there.

Food and service here have been great on our recent visits. Patio is lovely with very comfortable furniture. Inside is also very nice. Great small neighborhood Italian restaurant.

Delicious food, attentive and friendly service. Crab cakes starter was delectable, gambereti was rich and complex, 5-cheese ravs were light and citrusy. Wish we lived closer to take advantage of this gem more often.

This is the second time I've had dinner here -- with the same three other people, two of whom are frequent diners here -- and it was much less enjoyable than the first time. It was busy for a Tuesday, and one of our party had made a reservation. We were seated at the one table placed directly in the flow of traffic between the kitchen and the patio. Ugh. When we arrived, there was a four top up front that was empty. We asked to be moved there and the hostess said that it had been booked. That table remained empty the entire night (we stayed until closing - the company and conversation were vastly superior to the seating and dining experience). We expressed our displeasure, but the hostess was indifferent. All night long, people walking that path, both diners and servers, repeatedly banged into the table or one of our chairs. It's obvious management put that table there to increase revenue, but it could have been moved just two feet toward the front and it would have been better. Next time I'm in town, I'll suggest we go elsewhere.
