I have eaten here several times over the years. The food has never been anything other than average -. I ask myself, why in the world do I return? Today, it was because Duck Nook was closed. I ordered 2 eggs, hamburger steak, with country potatoes and gravy and biscuit. I could not finish any of it. As I usually do, I mixed my eggs (over medium) with the potatoes. I kept chewing on something that was the texture of thin leather. It took me a while to figure out it was the potato skins, which was literally the texture of leather. I ate about 50% of it and then just couldn't continue pulling pieces of the skin out of my mouth. I took just two bites out of the hamburger steak and couldn't finish it because it tasted spoiled. So, in the end, I tried to satisfy my breakfast hunger by just eating the biscuits and gravy. Unfortuanetly, this had a very bad, dull taste to it and ate no further. The only good thing about the meal was the coffee - unfortunately, no splenda. I know it sounds like everything was bad and I hold something against the restaurant, but that is not the case. The food was just terrible, and I hope I don't get sick. I will definitely not return, under any circumstances. I fear what goes on out of the public eye with their food safety.

There aren’t enough old-school diners around anymore. Fortunately, Sam’s is here to remind us what a neighborhood diner should be: friendly service, great prices, and honest grub. That perfect place for an early morning breakfast meeting or just a place to start your day and feel at home.

Such an authentic, quaint, wonderful little breakfast place!
The service is genuine and prompt, the food is good and the prices are reasonable.
I wish we had someplace like this where we live. I could see going there for breakfast at least once per week.
We'll definitely come back the next time we're visiting family in Stockton.

Hadn’t been here in a long time and from what I remember used to be good food at a decent price. Came in today and got three breakfasts and 2 cup of coffee and I was kind of shocked because it came out to $50 and some change and the food wasn’t even that great anymore. How are you? I really used to like this place with sticker shock. More likely I won’t be coming back. shame on me I could’ve spent about $25 or less and cook it at home. All I had was three bacon and eggs with some country potatoes and that equal. $50 and 2 cups of coffee. I must say I’m not happy.
