I visited Sheila B's for the first time around 12:15 PM. while looking for a lunch spot. The establishment features a full bar, and upon entering, I noted that only one booth was occupied. I initially sat at the bar where my server, Tay, provided a menu.

After reviewing the options, I inquired about grits i saw on the menu but was informed they are only available on weekends. I then decided on the pancake meal, requesting scrambled eggs cooked soft with bacon. I also asked for coffee with cream and sugar. Tay informed me that half-and-half was unavailable, offering heavy whipping cream and a single Coffee-Mate creamer packet instead. She also mentioned that the restaurant would be closing for renovations the following week. After receiving the coffee, which I found subpar, and subsequently the cream and sugar, I moved to a more comfortable booth.

My food arrived approximately 30 minutes later, which felt a bit long given the lack of other diners. Unfortunately, the meal was a significant disappointment. The scrambled eggs were overcooked, dark, and appeared to have been prepared in bacon grease or a well-used skillet rather than being soft as requested. The potatoes seemed to be from a frozen Oreda bag, and the pancakes were dense and undercooked, far from fluffy. The bacon was excessively crispy, resembling items cooked in a deep fryer.

During my meal, I had to approach the bar to request assistance with syrup, which was presented in an olive oil dispenser, and also requested ketchup, which came in those annoying fast food packets Tay eventually brought these to my table after a noticeable wait. While I was attempting to manage my meal, a party of five arrived for takeout but then opted to dine in, further adding to the waiting time as I later sought to pay my bill.

Ultimately, my meal was very disappointing. The overall quality of the food, coupled with the slow service for condiments and a peculiar coffee experience, left much to be desired. I paid around $20 and left the restaurant, hoping for improvements. I plan to return after their announced renovations to see if the dining experience, particularly the food preparation and service efficiency, improves.

This is the best breakfast spot in Stockton. I'm a truck driver and when I get back to Stockton after days of eating in the truck, I come here for great food made with love. That salmon skillet is my go too. Don't wait, it's a must eat.

Chicken and waffles was good. I was so hungry and tore off into it, that I didn't get a photo. My bad y'all. The Hennessy drink I had was good too. I'll be back. I wish they had later hours but I will find the time and make it work! Thanks.

I drove an hour and 30 minutes to try the food. Everybody I know kept telling me about it. Get here it's closed when it says it's open and no one answers the phone.

This place is fabulous. I was pleasantly surprised with everything. Kind of odd that there were only a handful of patrons.

Hidden Southern charm downtown Stockton. Eatery could use updates and a bit of modernization. The first visit was on a Sunday before the rush of after churchgoers. Short staffed but servers do try their best to get to their customers taken care of. Food was really good. My husband and I both finished our plates.

Loved the atmosphere it was a nice change to be able to eat somewhere that catered to black culture and the food is amazing! Everything was flavored to perfection and cooked in house I can’t wait to go back! Definitely have to try it out if you’re anywhere near downtown Stockton
