All 3 beef items we tried were great. As were the peppers.
The salads and oysters felt they were missing some acid. Especially the oysters.
Beautiful restaurant, but our experience was soured by the rude hostess who insulted my partner’s appearance while she was seating us (woman with the brown bob) and the mediocre food. This place feels like some amateurs cosplaying a fine dining establishment, rather than an actual fine dining establishment. Don’t waste your time.

My wife and I went to Alto last night, and I have to say—everything was fantastic. The food was unlike anything we’ve found in the Valley since moving here: inventive, flavorful, and with each dish tasting completely unique.
The bread to start was incredible, the drinks were excellent, and we were pleasantly surprised by the price.
Our server was wonderful, and a special shoutout to the owner, Caryn, who was so warm, inviting, and generous with her time. She made us feel truly welcome.
We can’t wait to go back. Highly, highly recommend

Won’t go back . Insanity expensive . Very limited wine list . $29 for a 5 oz glass of not great wine . We left hungry $280 for two people and tiny dishes that needed flavor and salt . The $18 bread was nice . The service was good . Atmosphere lovely. Very loud and echoey.. couldn’t hear the person across the tiny table from me .

I had an amazing experience at this steakhouse in Studio City. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere blends elegance and warmth—perfect for a romantic dinner or a night out with friends. The service was impeccable; the staff truly knows their cuts and gives great recommendations based on your preferences.
The steak was simply perfect—juicy, tender, and cooked to absolute perfection, just the way it should be.

Alto in Studio City exceeded all my expectations. The place is beautiful, with a warm and elegant atmosphere, and the open kitchen makes the experience even more special.
The food is spectacular -deep flavors and fire-driven technique you can truly taste in every dish. The empanadas were a 10/10.
The cocktails are also on another level, very well balanced.
Service was impeccable: attentive, friendly, and super professional.
It’s the perfect spot for a date or a special dinner. Highly recommended!

Walk in. Waited an hour to get a table with constant “it’s almost ready” updates only to be told that the kitchen was about to close. The condescending tone by what I think was the service manager was unnecessary and rude. During that entire time, had a $12 small piece of fried bread with the nastiest cashew mush.

Food was great. Service, great. Ambience, great.
That said, this place can be easily misunderstood.
… Misunderstood by those whom have never been to Argentina or Uruguay. Our food is simple and fresh. It carries no fanfare. It’s just delicious as it is. Because we believe stripping away complexity is how you connect to the foods soul. Those people, who crave haute cuisine, will miss the point of Alto and are left wanting more.
… misunderstood by those whom grew up in Argentina eating traditional dishes like chipa, provoleta, empanadas… because these are common, everyday dishes to enjoy with family and friends. While Argentineans feel welcomed by these heartwarming foods, they will struggle to notice the difference between a seemingly elevated dish and our common dishes.
At the center of the disconnect is PRICE. This place is very expensive. The high tags will cause sticker shock to most, leaving both rioplatenses and non-rioplatenses needs unmet and wanting more.

My fiance and I went last night on a whim with no reservation and the hostess not only accommodated us, but she took us to the chef’s table in front of the kitchen. Along the way she pointed out their house specialty desert and told us what was in it. All of the staff greeted us as we passed. The hostess offered us cushions for our seats in case we wanted to be up higher. Then proceeded to explain the menu, the concept and backstory of the owner and the chef. We got two of the drinks she recommended PLUS the bartender brought us welcome drinks and they were all amazing. My favorite thing was the lamb. The seasoning was phenomenal. But everything we had was super good. The owner came by to tell us about the deserts. We got the pistachio pear ice cream bar, incredible. Definitely going back and bringing friends. We’ll make a reservation next time! Lol

The food and service here is amazing. They took every detail and made it magical. I actually prefer this place over wolfgangs CUT. The service, the food, the ambiance, and most importantly the drinks are all amazing. Definitely coming back!

One of the best dining experiences I’ve had. The Service was really outstanding. Friendly, helpful staff and not at all pretentious. Food was impeccable. The only issue was , while the bread was delicious, I felt it was way overpriced for what you get.

Giving 2 stars only for the nice decor and the welcome drinks - that's where the positives end.The service was terrible, and every single dish we ordered was disappointing and lacked flavor. Nothing tasted good or fresh. Overall, this place was a huge letdown and definitely not worth the visit.

The passion and craftsmanship here are on another level. The bar program is impeccable, the empanadas incredible, and the chocolate mousse is perfection. You can tell the chef and the entire team are pouring their hearts into this place, and it feels like they're striving to be a Michelin contender.
The signature Asado steak is a bold and authentic taste of Uruguay. For the American palate, it's definitely different. My only feedback is a hopeful one: if they had more steak options on the menu, either traditional South American cuts, or familiar cuts like a filet, I would be back more frequently.
This was definitely a 5-star experience, and it's exciting to have this level of talent in the neighborhood.

Had two wonderful meals now at this place. A transportive dining experience. Fabulous cocktails. Don’t miss the lamb—eye-popping. And a lovely, attentive staff—I felt so well taken care of. Everyone here seems to really care about what they’re doing, and it shows. I leave feeling great.
