Salt & Straw on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City is easily one of the best ice cream shops in Los Angeles, and that is saying something. Everything here is homemade with the kind of care and creativity that turns ice cream into an experience. The texture is perfect—creamy and dense without being heavy—and the flavors are always changing, keeping regulars like me coming back to see what’s new.
This time of year, the Halloween flavors are a wild ride. Be warned, the “Creepy Crawly Critters” flavor actually includes chocolate-covered grasshoppers and mealworms, which I appreciated more for the audacity than the appetite. For me, though, the all-time favorite remains the Salted, Malted, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. It hits that perfect balance of salty and sweet, with ribbons of malt and chocolate woven through a rich base. Other standouts include Honey Lavender, Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons, and Arbequina Olive Oil, all of which show how seriously they take their ingredients.
The staff is cheerful and encourages you to taste as many as you want, which makes each visit feel like a mini adventure. Salt & Straw is a true neighborhood gem—worth every calorie and absolutely worth the trip. Five shining stars.

This place is like the Ivy League of the icecream world. The most prestigious icecream with top quality & flavor you’ll ever have. The service is out of this world amazing and professional. They let you try as many flavors as you want in little metal spoon samplers. The wild flavors are so unique ; blue cheese pear , olive oil, lavender honey etc. I had the cinnamon churro & gooey chocolate brownie.
We were helped by Parker. She was very patient at helping us find the perfect flavor. She gave us her honest opinion about which ones were good. She had a smile that was welcoming. We loved the apple theme for the month. We can't wait to taste next month's flavors.

Nice ice cream place. 5 stars for variety of unique flavors. Had lavander honey, coffee and love nuts and cholocate flavors and all turned out very tasty. Place is clean and very friendly workers. Amongst things that could be improved: picture menu for kids?, more than 1 bench outside?

I found a long hair in my cone and none of the employees were wearing gloves. That's concerning considering they're handling food. I should've known not to get anything just by seeing the poor hygiene. I will never walk into any salt and straw ever again.
