I really wanted to give this place 5 stars however the hand rolls suffer a bit from too many ingredients. Most of the rolls ended up tasting subpar as a result. In this case I really believe less is more.

Cool place to eat at with ~20+ bar seats-- no traditional seating here!

Tried a variety of hand rolls, their regular ones were good but my absolute favorite was the HYE, think I could live on those for a straight week haha. For the biggest bang for your buck, stick to the hand rolls.

Went here with a friend and we did the Seabutter deluxe. Was fantastic and each roll was quality. Would definitely go again.

Unfortunately very over rated, it doesn't seem to bring in a crowd anymore, I'm guessing people who have tried it, did not go back a second time?

Absolutely amazing place. Would highly recommend. Their special butter they use adds a really unique flavor to the food. Haven't found to anywhere else. The atmosphere and the staff are also really nice and professional. I've been back multiple times and tried basically everything

The service could use a minor improvement, as we had to ask for straws each time we visited. However, their hand rolls are top-notch, prepared right in front of you. They are definitely on par with their top competitors, and even better in some aspects.

A very strange place. Acoustics make it hard to hear conversations once even four people are in the room. Food is inconsistent, chefs are slow and inexperienced. The yuzu kampachi was fine, but the salmon donburi portion size was quite small. And then the two negi toro rolls my fiancé and I ordered both had bones in them. When we pointed this out to our server, she said the owner says that bones are natural parts of the fish and offered us 10% off. I was so thrown off by the reaction that we just paid for what we’d already eaten and left. Very very odd, do not recommend.

I’ve been on a handroll bar kick for the last year+, and Instagram must’ve known because they served me a targeted ad when The Bar was just opening. ? I’ve had it saved for some time but finally got around to visiting. It’s a fun date night or casual meetup spot, with great quality food and a calming interior.

We ordered the 3 spicy handroll set to start, which was nice starter. There’s a little more kick than your everyday spicy tunas at other places, but still mild.

Then we added on other handrolls a la carte that we were individually curious about which included - wagyu, Uni wagyu, truffle Meiji mushroom, scallop, salmon truffle and the HYE (yellowtail belly). I think my personal favs were the HYE and scallop, but they were all tasty overall. Uni was fresh and mildly sweet, not too fishy. Wagyu was well-seasoned and prepared.

Service was friendly and efficient, especially Umida!! She’s so fun and charming, we had a great time chatting with her and she gave excellent recommendations.

Private lot parking is available in the plaza but I’m not totally sure if they parking spots right next to them apply to their restaurant. Google maps said it’s part of the “Valley Stores Center Mall” which I didn’t see noted on signage until you drive a little further back to the spots that say “Valley Stores” on them. There are two shopping malls right in that same area it seems, so heads up.

Overall, this handroll bar is solid and I’d definitely go back, plus it’s nice to have more options in SFV!

Anything they have with sea salt is my muse. How do I quit this place? Also, I just heard they do handrolls on their food delivery app. Omg!!!

I have tried handrolls before, but this place takes the lead in taste and presentation. I went with the seabutter deluxe for 55$, and omg, what an experience. Every single handroll was a piece of art and a party in my mouth. It's so creamy and buttery and absolutely delicious. I 100% recommend this place.

Vegetarian options: It's called "Vegan 5 hand roll"

Got the kanpachi yuzu, toro uni don, and 5 hand roll.Seaweed is not roasted/toasted. Temperature of the handrolls at times are cold. The handrolls itself is either too bland or overly salty.5 rollsSalmon - bland. I don’t even taste the salmon flavor.Amberjack - overly seasoned with Yuzu and saltSpicy tuna - only one thats well balanced and not overly spicyYellowtail - all i tasted was sesame oil…Ume-siso - overly saltyToro uni donUni that was added in this dish is okay. The toro negi is also very bland as well. Can’t really taste the fat/flavor.The food is okay but for the price, serving size, value not worth it.The chef that was making the handrolls seems very inexperienced. Some of the rolls he rip the seaweed and just folded it over to hide it and serve.Service was great! But not a place I would recommend.

Pros:

Service - excellent and unusually attentive

Atmosphere - really nice ambience. I like the open bar feel with warm lighting. I wouldn’t be good if you go with a talkative person though. Not the best place to have a conversation. lol

Con:
Food - not terrible, but there are many other places in the city to get better quality sushi/rolls for equal or slightly higher price.
