I had ordered a bagel with butter and jelly. Instead I received a peanut butter and jelly bagel. Luckily I am not allergic so it wasn’t a very big issue. However I do know that nut allergies are very common so I wanted to inform the restaurant of their error. When I called to inform them, the woman on the phone was silent with no response. After I repeated hello to ensure we hadn’t lost connection she said ….ok. I asked her if that was her only response to what could have been a very big error. She then told me she had said ok. I told her that it was strange she wasn’t even apologetic considering how common nut allergies are and that while it wasn’t a problem now it could be in the future and I’d hope that they cared about being more careful. She didnt seem to care and told me she was “thinking on how to respond” I told her she could have at least apologized for the error. I no longer cared to continue the conversation as she didn’t seem to care to apologize so I hung up. BE CAREFUL IF YOU HAVE A NUT ALLERGY!! Western bagel doesn’t actually care and is ok with potentially cross contaminating.

Usually service is pretty kind and selection of bagels is good. It's a bagel place. Paid coin parking on the street.

I have been going to Western Bagel in Studio City for 20 + years.
It used to be the best! We brought our kids here for years. And the customer service was also the best.
The last 2 + months it has gone really down hill. Food quality is terrible. The team working there has absolutely no skills which is so sad because they seem so young and in need of training & understanding of customer communication & help in dealing with service skills. I truly feel badly for them as I am sure they want to work. But high school students need to be trained and helped if it’s their first job dealing with preparing food. The counter where they make the food is dirty.
My bagel was cut with a bagel order knife with cream cheese from previous order even though I asked for dairy free cream cheese. I mentioned to please get a new knife & he just wiped with a used napkin.
The two people in line in front of me were feeling exactly the same as I was feeling as we all communicated how down-hill Western Bagel has gone.
I am sad to leave western bagel but it’s time to try something new.

I ordered a turkey club sandwich to go. When I came home the sandwich had zero turkey on it whatsoever.

The counter is a total mess and there is always an insane line. Shame, because the bagels are good.

So sad- I had ordered just bagels from here and they were great. But today I got a bagel sandwich through DoorDash and the eggs are literally green. I am currently pregnant and this is really scary since potential food poisoning can cause massive harm.

They also list their orange juice as fresh squeezed on their DoorDash page and it’s a bottle from concentrate.

The bagel was fresh, flavorful, and very good—definitely a highlight! However, the overall experience was a bit disappointing. The counters and tables were messy, and the staff seemed overwhelmed, making the in-store experience less enjoyable.

This place is probably best for online orders, delivery, or takeout, where you can skip the chaos and just enjoy the great bagels. On the plus side, parking is easy with a big lot in the back. Would return for takeout, but not for dining in.

I used to love Western Bagel, but unfortunately, the quality has really gone downhill over the past few years. The portion sizes have shrunk, and the bagels and pastries just aren’t as good as they used to be. On multiple occasions, I’ve even found mold on the pastries, which is unacceptable. To make matters worse, the service has become incredibly rude, with staff who seem disinterested and dismissive. It’s disappointing to see such a decline in both the food and customer service at a place that used to be a favorite.

I never mind paying an absurd amount for one bagel IF the bagel is:

a) fair in its portions
b) tastes good
c) well presented

Unfortunately at this location (at least) they seem to have forgotten that if you're going to change $19 for ONE BAGEL then it better be a darn good one.

Ordered the 'complete sandwich' (as they call it) - cream cheese, tomato, onion, and lox.

For some odd reason, this location has taken o adding in 4 (FOUR!) pieces of lettuce - CLEARLY in a cheap attempt to make the bagel 'sandwich' look somewhat filling.

Minus the lettuce, you're presented with a PITIFUL brief smear of cream cheese, the tiniest bit of lox (it was less than a forkful!), a few random pieces of red onion, and ONE tomato.

I had the insane notion if I asked for a little extra lox that I was happy to pay for, this would help matters. FOR 10 $ MORE they will throw in another forkful of lox.

Worst of all: it tasted like kindergarten paste. The cream cheese was so bland and the capers so not 'capering' that the whole thing was fairly flavorless.

To compare, a 'the works' bagel down the street at HANKS is (wait for it...) $15!!! AND you get more tomato, more lox, and a whole BUNCH of cream cheese. It's literally 5 blocks down from this location.

So DO NOT pass 'Go'! Do NOT collect $200 - skip this bit of fraud and head to HANK's (or Art's Deli, 9 blocks away!) for not only a heck of a better deal - but a far superior (edible) bagel and lox.

Thank you, Shame on you, Western Bagel.
