ordered capico drink but it tastes like water completely. Weird way of saving cost?

I ordered the oyakudon. I liked. It's actually used chicken katsu and not grilled chicken. The katsu was moist which is good. The sauce however was too salty and not sweety enough. Probably not enough mirin which makes it sweeter or they put too much soy sauce in the sauce. Otherwise, perfect.

Way too overpriced dinner for what they offer. Very average taste.

The lunch special was the gyutan curry and also ordered the katsu bento. Both large quantity as well as quality. The miso soup was savory and authentic. Over all the taste is fresh and authentic. I would recommend this place to anyone in sunnyvale for a good lunch for date or work lunch.

Randomly decided to come here after going to Tokyo a couple months ago and missing authentic Japanese foods. While it’s not Tokyo level, it hits the spot for sure when you’re missing that Izakaya style food. They have reverse happy hour which is always great. We ordered many types of skewers and small plates. The wagyu with uni skewer was a hit as well as the chicken thighs. The mushroom skewer was good but small. The scallop skewer was delicious but overcooked, but we would try it again. The Yuba shots were interesting but I wouldn’t get it again. The tempura and gyoza was on point. The Gyutan Beef was really good and I would get it again and again. Overall extremely happy with this place and we would come again to try out more of the menu.

The biggest criticism I have about this place is that while they serve Suntory beer, there’s no Suntory highball on the menu like a traditional izakaya would have. Not a deal breaker at all but I would love to see that included on the menu one day.

Delicious! I’d never had a dish like the poached egg ikura &uni shot before and I loved it. The meats are top quality, and the wagyu was worth the price (plus I love getting to finish the cooking at the table). Highly recommend !

I had Chirashi bowl but it is too small for $27, and the rice is too sour. Do not try. Worst Japanese restaurant ever.

I live nearby and have dined/picked up several times. I loved most of their food, and their fried food items (tempura, katsudon etc) are exceptionally good, probably one of the best in the area. Very reasonable price for their quality overall. Nice vibe and service too.

Went without a reservation on a week night for dinner. Was seated immediately although the restaurant did look packed with customers. Ordered quite a number of grilled and fried food. Majority were overtly salted. 5hrs later, I woke up super thirsty from the attack/effects of salt/ MSG of the food. Now, 8 hrs later, I’m still feeling it.
The fried food items were extremely salty so that the taste of the food was completely overpowered by the saltiness. The grilled food was however better. My friend had the grilled Hamachi which I think could have grilled more as it lacks the taste of the charcoal grilled food. I had initially ordered the beef tongue steak but had to switch it out for the grilled squid as it tasted off; almost like it had gone bad. The grilled squid was very tasty and juicy, well grilled and served pipping hot…if only all the other dishes were executed as well as the grilled squid. The chazuke took a long time to be prepared and the soup/broth in the pot was cleared away even before I had finished the rice. No complimentary tea was provided which all other Japanese izakaya I’ve been to in the Bay Area provides.
There were only 2 servers for the entire restaurant, so apparently they seem a little overwhelmed and thus there was no service to speak of.
Definitely not impressed by the overall/entire experience. I might return for the grilled squid but thought since all the other food item did not turn out well…maybe I just got lucky with that particular dish.
Anyway, still feeling the aftermath of the salt/MSG after 8 hrs, which is very unpleasant. The salt completely overwhelmed the taste of the food. Usually the salt that were presented with dishes in restaurants are special/unique but I suspect this restaurant uses regular table salt and truly the amount on each dishes are ridiculously unpalatable.

Dined in on a Wednesday night, decently busy and still had great service and delicious food. We didn’t order that many dishes but every dish was great. Seafood tasted very fresh and clean, chicken thighs and steak cooked very well. We also really enjoyed the duck breast. Definitely would come back again to try more dishes!
