Totally an hidden gem!! Really good food !
Loved the shahi paneer and baingan bartha 👌👌👌
Satkar restaurant used to serve meat-based dishes. The owner had a change of heart, and is now an egg-free, and meat-free, Indian restaurant that serves Indian vegan and lacto-vegetarian dishes. The dishes highlighted in Yellow can be made Vegan, we just have to let them know. Modest portion sizes.
Tried the Mutter Paneer with naan. Medium spicy was just the right level of heat for me! Flavorful and satisfying. All vegetarian, with tons of customization for vegans. Definitely worth a try!
Our favorite Indian restaurant in the Bay! Family run and very cozy :) we recommend the Bengan Bharta, chaat, and yellow dal!
Food is very delicious. Ordered Chilli pakora, Garlic naan, Malai Kofta with plain naan. Everything was served hot. Excellent place to have found.
Food is freshly prepared and tasty. It is a tiny place with about 3-4 tables for seating.
Outstanding food, Palak paneer and Navratna korma, both are amazing. I haven’t had better tasting veg food in Bay Area. The staff too is friendly. Indoor seating is limited, so plan off peak hours for dine in, or opt for take out.
Must try Shahi Panner. I really loved the preparation of the food.

For years I used to only go to A Slice of New York whenever I came to this strip mall, but would eye Satkar every time and lament my lack of a second stomach or hollow leg. Once ASONY began to only be open for a nanosecond per week I stopped coming entirely (and started making the trek to Colosseum Pizza every time I wanted authentic NY-style pizza instead).
One day (that ASONY is closed on, which is more days than not nowadays) I happened to be running an errand nearby enough that I was like, screw it, let's finally give Satcar a go.
It's a small counter service joint with a few inside tables. It was pretty full when I went but I can't say how common that is. There was no wait to order.
In the intervening years they seem to have converted to an all-vegetarian menu. (Most of the dishes on the "which would you recommend" section of Google Maps are no longer on the menu, and most of the new menu is missing from that list as well).
I got the paneer bhurji, which came with 1 piece of naan cut in half. The texture of the shredded paneer is very different from the cubed paneer I'm used to, and is less sticky than amul cheese (all cheese, even days vegan cheese, is good in my book). It's pretty spicy, though not overpowering, and it doesn't have a lot of sauce unlike something like * tikka masala. The amount of sauce/liquid/oil I would say is akin to a Chinese dry pot or stir-fried noodle.
The naan had a good balance of soft/fluffy and crispy parts, and was mostly devoid of really hard, black char. YMMV on whether that's a good thing or not (my mom, may she rest in piece, loved herself some burnt/charred food).
I might be back, if I remember this mall exists. ^_^()()

Amazing food and amazing people! I made a phone order and asked about a couple dishes I didn't recognize on the menu. The lady on the phone was so kind and gave some recommendations, after which she even offered to add some extra of a dish I was curious about to my order. Everything was incredibly delicious and gave me a warm and homey feeling. Highly recommend you give Satkar a try if you are in the area!

The food was really tasty and felt like homemade food. The people there treated customers very well. But the place is little bit small for dine in. If you look for ambience just get pickup if not the food quality is really good. We tasted Bhel puri , Navaratan Korma with garlic and butter naan. The naan was freshly made and was so good.

The food from this restaurant is amazing! We were surprised how vegetarian food can be so delicious! The mango lassi is also super good and has the right amount of sweetness. There are no open windows so the place gets super hot, that was a bit uncomfortable, my father had to step outside to breathe fresh air because he was feeling lightheaded. The service was good, they were kind and helpful.
