DoorDash order: Easy pick up and food ready when arrived. 8/10 Pad Kee Mao Beef $ - Food was still hot when I got home which was a plus. Noodles were yummy thick, wide, coated and seasoned well. Beef was ground not strips which was misleading, but still really flavorful. Also I asked for extra spicy and they delivered. :) for the price I'd say this was a solid portion and well made. 7/10 Thai tea $ - Generic and average. They did not mess it up but nothing noteworthy.

I had Kra Pao Gai (Stir-fried Basil Chicken) and it was very authentic. I like that they have regular brown rice as an option, and the white sticky rice was great too. The staff here are outstandingly friendly and helpful. Highly reccomended!!

it's been a while since I've gone to Thai Basil. When you have a young kid and they go through picky stages you find yourself not going to a local favorite for years. Well, we finally reached a point in time where we could take our 7 year old out to Thai and it was a solid hit. Is this the best Thai restaurant? No. But what it is and why I'm rating a 5/5 is for the following: Even though they don't have a kids menu they were accomodating with their food/spice levels. Their food choices are solid, affordable, and consistent. Even though it's been over 7 years, my favorites are still solid quality and tasty experiences. The service is fantastic; they were thoughtful in the seating and added another table so we'd have room for dinner and they regularly checked in on us and refilled our water. The ambience is on the darker side, but I love the aesthetic with lots of interesting memorabilia to look at. The one request I'd have is for them to remodel/fix the women's bathroom. It's showing it's age. Be aware that the hot water is HOT straight out of the tap.

Unfortunately our experience was really bad. First of all the plates are so big it's hard to find room on your table; the food is centered with a 2" perimeter of plate around it so for all that space occupied on your table you're not getting much food. The other issue was when we ordered we were not asked "mild, medium or spicy?". They should write spicy next to literally all of their dishes. Ive been ordering the same dishes at Thai restaurants for years and they've never been too spicy but here we both got dishes that were too spicy to eat (and my dinner companion was indian!)it was a miserable experience Within seconds both of us had runny noses & were physically comfortable . I tried to scrape off as much of sauce as I could from each bite but it was futile. We had a few bites and couldn't tolerate eating any more . The server asked if we wanted boxes, we explained to her we couldn't eat it.. too spicy. She didn't say anything. I think their philosophy is: "not our problem"

First visit to this really quaint little place. Nice menu - covers all the basic Thai dishes well with a few creative touches. The food was served nice and hot, well-balanced and in a timely manner. The service was friendly and attentive, but not overbearing - we felt well taken care of. The space is a on the cozy side, so the table next to us, with 5 guys working their way through two full bottles of scotch, made it a louder-than-expected experience. Decor is nice, but could use a dusting. Will come back again when visiting Sunnyvale.

Food was not bad, but it has a weird vibe. Like a place that was takeout-only and never recovered from it. Packaging and utensils stacked on the bar counter, different types of chairs, and elderly waiter in a black leather jacket, no heating...

Thai Basil is a solid Thai restaurant in Downtown Sunnyvale. Amongst a whole street of restaurants, it stands out as a contender for all lunchtime discussions for the fast service, large menu, and good food. Inside is a bit dark and doesn't feel like the most welcoming. I like sitting outdoors if the weather is nice. My go-to is the Pad Thai with shrimp - medium spicy. I really like when places offer their pad thai to be spicy! For me, it's important for it to be as flavorful as it is spicy, and Thai Basil does that well. Pricing is pretty reasonable and I almost always have leftovers. The Thai tea is also great and sometimes I'll just come order that as a pick-me-up in the middle of my workday haha. I will continue to come here, whether it's on my own or with my company!

Probably one of the worst thai restaurants we have eaten in California. I mean the service is okay ish but the food was horrible. I mean it felt like we were eating dog food, the ambience was ok but overall absolutely horrible. Wouldn't recommend at all.

Super yummy thai food! The food was a bit spicier than I was expecting , but overall really tasty! The service was fast and patient! Portion size was a bit small for the price, otherwise a really good experience!

We got at the restaurant around 11:30 and there were only 4 of us. It was not even crowded but it took over an hour to get appetizers and even longer to get our main dishes. We also had specifically asked for extra eggs in the fried rice mixed in but we received it op top of the rice instead. The waitress apologized for the delay and mess up on the order.

The food is very bad. I suggest staying away! The Pad Thai was made in advance , packed in plastic containers, and microwaved. The end result is hard-packed, rubberry, noodles. Worse, it's not even pad Thai. The noodles are thin and round, not at all like the traditional, flat noodles used in real pad Thai. This was more like Chinese chow mien topped with four, insipid, boiled shrimp and a few rotting broccoli stems. There is none of that tangy tamarind & fish sauce taste, no green toppings nor wedge of lemon, nor chili to sprinkle for added flavor. The end result is a rubbery mess that could have easily been obtained from a factory vending machine and microwaved to infinity. We didn't eat this, we tasted it, and we threw it away. Something was just "off."Gordon Ramsey, please save this place! It's a disaster.

Nice food. Wait time is too much over the weekend though. We enjoyed the thai tea also
