This is our first and favorite stop each time we visit the area. We don't just stock up on our favorites for ourselves, but for friends back home, too. Great selection and great people!

was visiting on vacation in the area- had a strange experience here- enjoyed their custom spice blends especially and purchased a few- when I went to the counter I asked if they took master charge and she said yes but then said she couldn't get it to work- so I paid cash and she said the register didn't work so I got no receipt-I left the store- when I went back to my car I realized I was grossly overcharged- my purchase was 16 and change and she charged me 27 and change- I went back and she apologized and she said she still had my cash so she gave it back and readded my purchase and then said she could give me a receipt-so I paid cash for it again this time the correct amount- I found this strange and suspicious but maybe it was just a mistake but a first time for me in any store!!

The only FREE tasting on Main Street. We easily sauntered up to the lovely counter to wine taste. After walking through the cutest little shop, very William Sonoma and Restoration Hardware like, you arrive at the wine tasting. You can tell they take both their wine and their culinary seriously, they have a passion for both. We were greeted by the sweetest woman, who was beyond friendly and enjoyed chatting with us the entire time, while also greeting other customers who sauntered into the store. She poured us both generous pours of what she was tasting that day, which I believe was five different varieties. She didn't pressure us to purchase anything nor did she seem to mind we just wanted to taste. The store is full of culinary knickknacks, but nice ones. Not cheap stuff, more specialty items. From coffee to chocolate to dips and sauces. There is also plenty of culinary tools to purchase too. It really is an all encompassing store for someone who goes by the title 'foodie'. They have tons of samples of everything -- from the coffee to the sauces. We didn't partake, as this was our last stop, but it all looked divine. It's not amazing cause its free, but because of what it offers to Main Street.

I have never been, but due to their unselfish acts towards those affected by the #ButteFire, I will make a point of visiting them next time I am in town ...

This place is awesome! Not only do they have REALLY delicious wines, but they are so much more than that. Coordinated a wedding here this past weekend and can't say enough about the staff. The easiest group I have ever worked with! The venue is beautiful and even though it is a bit off the beaten path, it is well worth it. Sierra Ridge is the most perfect combination of wonderful wine, a lovely setting, and a friendly and helpful staff. Thank you Sierra Ridge for a perfect wedding!

This is a wonderful spot. The staff is friendly; the wines almost always excellent. I find the variety quite remarkable (who else does Pinotage!) -- try a tasting of their Italian varietals, starting with Nebbiolo and Barbera. John and Jan are terrific. Take a picnic, walk around the property. This is anti-Napa -- a place where you really are welcome.

My sister and brother in-law came to visit us from Texas last weekend so Allison and I decided to take them to one of our favorite wineries in Amador County "Sierra Ridge Winery"; we go there often for the quality of the wines and of course to buy our favorite wine "Aglianico". All of their wines are really well balanced and pair wonderfully with foods, but the Aglianico is the best in the sierra foothills! They make a really good port that is not too syrupy and not over sweet. There are only two ports that I like, and John makes one of them. We intended on just tasting a few wines but to our surprise we were being served by the owner John, he kept opening up wines for us to try. Before we knew it we were sitting out side at one of the tables with full glasses and talking about his passion for making wines. It was such a beautiful day he offered to take us on a tour of the vineyards, as we walked the estate we discussed the grapes, soil, vines and the care taken to produce these amazing wines. We also got to see where they host their weddings and summer concerts. Another cool thing about this winery is that they are located in the historic town of Sutter Creek that has many different lodgings to choose from. The town has so many interesting things to do; you can plan a weekend trip and never leave the Sutter Creek area. This is one winery that should be on your sierra foothills visit list, you will enjoy all the wines and have a wonderful experience at Sierra Ridge Winery.

Off the beaten path as far as our wine country is concerned and no longer on the recommended route to the casino, neither of which facts can aid in the overall traffic flow to this place. However, for locals who don't want to drive clear to Shenandoah Valley it serves a good purpose and the wine is mostly quite good. They do a lot of fun events with music and have a side yard for that purpose and it's a good place to go or to hold an event.

The wines now appear under the "Sierra Ridge" label. OK, good point--you wouldn't want to be mistaken for those single-serving screw-top wines.
