We had such a wonderful time at our celebration of life for my father. Thank you Dom for taking such wonderful care of my family!! I'm happy to have a friend in the industry that was my hometown. Thanks Ashley for the impromptu bar!

I was born and raised in Taft, and OT's has always been a degree above the other eateries in town. The offerings are, for the most part, not unusual for the type of place it is, but one thing they have that is worth investigating for out of towners is the seafood specials; the owner, I understand, has a connection at the coast and frequently offers items that are rare, especially in a little oilfield town like Taft. I have seen such things as shark, swordfish and even alligator steak! ALL have been delicious, with my personal favorite being the shark!

Good food, awesome drinks and decent prices. Make sure you try all the drinks on the bar menu. Only complaint is it can get really busy and service lacks a little when busy.

This is definitely a hidden treasure in the valley of Kern county. Large portions of beautiful steak or seafood. Always cook perfectly, restaurant is very easy to find.just go to Taft and drive down main Street all the way west till it comes to an end and there in front of your nose will be the OT restaurant.

For the Best meal in town go to OT'S COOK HOUSE. You always get your money's worth of food. You won't leave hungry.

Had the strangest experience I ever had at a restaurant. When the door opened, a young woman stared at us without saying a word. Her expression said it all: "Who the hell are you?" We entered and she still didn't say anything. Whatever happened to the normal courtesies, like "Welcome! How are you? Come this way, please." Later I made a point of observing her to see whether her silent treatment of us was just us or whether it was her disposition. It seems it was her disposition. She brought some food to another table, her expression still morose, and she proceeded to plunk it down, turn abruptly and leave without a word. As we went to pay our bill we unfortunately encountered her again. Still sullen and silent as a grave, she processed our charge. I did discover that she was not mute, as she answered the phone and was much more polite over the machine than in person. Granted she was in the middle of a call when she gave me the receipt to sign, but a simple "Thank you, have a nice day" was conspicuously absent. In contrast, other servers were much more friendly and personable. The food was also decent. But the lack of cordiality and basic manners was really off putting. It will be a while before we return after this unpleasant experience.

The best restaurant in this town!! I would eat there everyday if I could, for breakfast lunch and dinner! They have a chef like no other and great service! I highly recommend this establishment. :)
