We have been going to Ancora for many years an always enjoy it. Probably due to pandemic issues, the service is very slow as they are understaffed. Hopefully, they are working to improve this as those who are there are very nice.
This is a very quaint neighborhood restaurant in Tarzana... You feel like you are eating in someone's home. I was surprised to not see it not so busy on a Saturday night, but maybe that's because there's no outdoor dining? I had the spaghetti Pomodoro and it was delicious! Not too much sauce and very flavorful. We also shared a Caesar salad which was very fresh and not too heavily dressed... I highly recommend for some good Italian cuisine with fair prices.!!
I have been going to Ancora since it first opened as La Finestra in around 2000. The owners are true restaurant professionals, and serve guests with gusto. The food there is really good, and the service is typically very effective. Go there and you will know why the same people have been going there for dinner for two decades, of good eating, at a fair price.
Some great authentic Italian cuisine. This place is not too fancy and service usually takes a while. They more than make up for this with their awesome food.
I was extremely disappointed. I got such a small portion of fish. It was maybe three bites. They covered it with all the tomatoes and artichoke hearts. It looks like a very large portion but when you got to the fish there was nothing there. To spend that kind of money was such a small portion was ridiculous.I go out with my friends every Saturday night. we are always looking for a nice restaurant to go to. Unfortunately I will not be going back to Ancora. I went there years ago and I don't remember having such small portions as I did last night.
Fabulous Italian restaurant that walks the line between formal and casual. Great takes on common pasta dishes and salads. Good wine and beer list. Still a great restaurant with great staff. But skip the pizza. Get pasta at Anchor and any attachments without reading or saving get pizza at a pizza shop.
Incredible atmosphere, lovely server, great food and free shots! 100000/10
We've been here a few times and it's always delicious. The appetizer of burratta and prosciutto is very good. This time I had penne pesto with shrimp. My husband had linguine and clams with white sauce and my daughter had linguine and clams with red sauce. All very fresh and tasty. Staff is very nice, pleasant and accommodating.
We live in west LA and met two friends from N.CA at Ancora Cusina Italiana for dinner and had a wonderful evening with the welcoming owner, great service and delicious food. Refreshing mista and aragula artichoke salads. Tasty stracciatella soup, thin crust margherita pizza, absolutely delicious risotti fungi, great linguine vongole and terrific veal fungi. Our friend asked for pasta to substitute for mashed potatoes that came with the veal. He said the penne and tomato sauce subsitution was spectacular. Generous pours of good chianti and pinot grigio. Complimentry bread. We were in the last table for four on the right in the right dining room so quiet to also enjoy a lovely evening of conversation with satisfying food. Reasonable prices. Lovely neighborhood place- will certainly visit when in the area.
Always consistent and tasty. The $15 corkage is fair and the staff are warm and accommodating. Everyone agrees the Gnocchi is the best we've had anywhere. I like the carpaccio as well. Soups are lovely.

Ancora is our neighborhood Italian place which we occasionally visit and every time we go in the staff is warm and friendly and chatting with locals who you can tell are frequent diners. The staff is always kind and very attentive and the food is delicious and comes out in a very timely manner. I would recommend this to anyone that wants a nice dinner and wants to support a small business instead of a big chain restaurant.

Old school Italian in food and decor and service. Lots of classic preparations that are delicious and well prepared. Very yummy and pleasant meal, a new neighborhood favorite to add to our list
