Had dinner with my family, everything we tried was delicious. Friendly service and nice decor. Definitely coming back
Definitely among the best chirashi bowls in the Valley. First time back since the remodel. It was worth the wait.
We came here (the two of us) on a Friday night. There would have been a wait as we needed a reservation but there was room at the sushi bar. In my opinion the Sushi Bar at Kushiyu is fantastic. It’s a square in the center of the restaurant. The decor is nice and at the bar it’s not noisy at all.
Behind the counter are loads of Sushi Chefs. The amount of staff is truly mind boggling. Amazing service.
Now the food. There are too many options in the valley when it comes to sushi. I’ve been to a bulk of them. Tonight we decided to try Kushiyu. To me, this is a proper Japanese restaurant with a huge menu of Kushiyaki. So many options for these tasty skewers. The Kushiyaki is really well priced. It’s the special items that get you. Yes, the food is expensive, but for these special cuts of fish, and how fresh the fish is here, it feels priced competitively to the rest of the amazing sushi places in LA.
Tonight we worked the Nigiri hard. Went down the list of daily specials and fish from Japan. Everything was extremely fresh and incredibly flavorful. I can’t believe I haven’t been here before. I will definitely be coming back. Amazing selection, and incredibly fresh food. Highly recommend coming here if you are truly about the different varieties of fresh sushi.
Not the same restaurant after it reopened after fire closed it for few years. Used to be one of the best. Now average at best.
Sushi options are not a lot , and other food is mostly available

Long time favorite Japanese and sushi restaurant. Their sushi is excellent and the kushiyaki and other entrees are always delicious. Been coming here for over 15 years

Much better sushi in the valley that will not make you sick. Nice restaurant though, used to be better before the fire. I never write reviews however this one is warranted. My spouse and two kids ate early dinner. Mix of sushi, soup, tempura and rolls. At the restaurant one of my kids got sick and had to rush to restroom with immediate diarrhea. We did not think it was related and just a kid thing.
Then when we left and got home, each one of us one by one started getting major stomach aches and diarrhea. Or if my girls threw up as well.
I immediately called the restaurant same day and requested to speak with Manager. They said he was busy and would call back. After a few days a manager Nobu called me and I explained the situation. He said they would take care of it and to start by disputing the CC charge with my CC company.
I thought that was odd way of handling, however since they said will be taken care of, just followed their request. Now I got a copy of a letter K sent to my CC accusing me of filing a fraudulent dispute claim and long explanation why their good could not have given us food poisoning. Their argument was since we paid the bill and ate the food and left, we are lying about food poisoning.
I live in the area and will never eat here again, and may pursue the claims legally and defamatory remarks they made to my CC company saying I filed a fraudulent claim after they requested I dispute so they can handle.
Not only is their food capable of making u sick and frankly jot very good sushi with very limited options, but they are also untrustworthy and manipulative in how they ur management deals with issues. Save your pocket book and health and try one of the very better sushi restaurants in the area.

Used to love coming here before the reno but now the prices are so high. Went for lunch with a girlfriend and didn’t expect to come out almost $200 later for a small amount of sushi. No cocktails.

Terrible service. The hostess is clueless about customer service and is very disrespectful. I have been going to this restaurant for more than 25 years but recently have had terrible experiences with the hostess. I will never go here again!
