The Gambling Cowboy offers an exceptional dining experience with generous portions and a friendly, efficient staff. Visitors appreciate the restaurant's rustic charm, warm lighting, and cozy ambiance, creating a romantic atmosphere perfect for special occasions. The bar staff serves handcrafted cocktails that are strong yet smooth and full of flavor. Main dishes, such as the Slow Braised Short Rib and the 72-Hour Blackened Ribeye, are highly praised for their tenderness and flavor. Sides of mixed vegetables and loaded mashed potatoes are generous and well-balanced. Despite a city blackout during a recent visit, the staff remained friendly and helpful, making the atmosphere comfortable and inviting even in the dark. Guests have enjoyed flavorful food that exceeds expectations, with some mentioning the delicious carrot cake for dessert when the lights returned. Although the elevator was out of order, requiring stairs, overall service was praised as wonderful. The steak is fairly priced, seasoned well, and complemented by great sides and bread. Live entertainment adds to the welcoming atmosphere without overpowering conversation, making The Gambling Cowboy a memorable spot for many.
