We were off-roading for Tierra Del Sol and needed real food. Not many options in Salton but luckily we turned off the highway to find Rancho 86z. We had a wonderful experience here. The steak was great and it was a great vibe with Mexican soccer on TV. Very kid friendly.
It's lost there...at first it reminds you a little of From Dusk till Dawn...but it's clean, the owner is very nice and sweet and the food, unexpectedly, very good.
We had chicken quesadilla and a BBQ cheeseburger and two Budweisers. Furthermore, incredibly cheap at $18 per person and they were very decent portions!
So if you appreciate good Mexican cuisine, a friendly host and reasonable prices and are frugal when it comes to ambience, this is the place...

I love this little restaurant. The food is always great! It should definitely get more action then it does! & The man that works inside is always so polite & gets you exactly what you order! & He's extremely fast! The prices aren't bad either! && There's a pool table! Love it! Also this place is kid friendly & it can easily accommodate a big group of people!
