Closing 10-26-23.I paid over $28 for an omlette and coffee. If you can't keep your doors open at those prices it's either poorly run or impossible for restaurants in california.I still love their original buttermilk pancakes.

I usually do not do this. However, I am a veteran and I must express my complete disgust with the treatment I received at the IHOP in Newbury Park CA. This is the advertisement that I viewed on November 10, 2023."IHOP -- Veterans and active-duty military get free Red, White, & Blueberry Pancakes or Pancake Combo on November 11 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dine-in only, at participating restaurants."I called this IHOP on Friday November 10th to verify they were honoring this offer repeating my inquiry regarding the pancake combo. The young lady I spoke with said that the pancake combo was being offered. This morning my girlfriend and a veteran friend of mine went to this IHOP and the waitress informed me the combo was not a part of the deal. I informed her I called yesterday to confirm the offer and she said she was the only woman in the restaurant at the time I called and denied the conversation. I asked to speak with the manager. The manager named Amaryani said the combo was not part of the deal. I showed her the ad on my phone and she said only the red white and blue pancakes plate was in the deal. I persisted in my claim that both items were advertised. After she said repeatedly she couldn't do it because the owner wouldn't authorize it. I asked her to get the owner on the phone. She then said only one us a veterans could get the combo. I said that was fine since my friend just wanted the pancakes only item. As she turned away she said, "You just want something for free". I felt insulted and I replied " Well you are just a nothing". She walked over and said I am letting you know that I am refusing service. My girlfriend, friend and I had no choice but to leave. This is a horrible way to treat a customer, especially a veteran on Veterans Day.I will be reporting this manager's rude insulting conduct to the owner of this IHOP and I am recommending all veterans and anyone else who feels this was unacceptable customer treatment to boycott the Newbury Park IHOP.

I ordered a veggie pesto omelet and my Husband and our friends. Who drove 25 miles to meet us ordered eggs and waffles. All their food was cold. But my omelet was simply a Fried flat egg folded over a few mushrooms and tomatoes. Couldn't find the Pesto anywhere. It was SO small it looked like a child's portion. See photo. Server returned 15 MINUTES later asking if our food was OK. I explained this was NOT an omelet , but a Fried egg. After INSISTING it Was, she brought it back snd LOUDLY told the kitchen to make it with " REAL EGGS". So, what did she serve me the first time? Don't go to this IHOP. Find Another restaurant, there are Plenty around for LESS money and BETTER Quality Food.

We are aware that an IHOP is taking over a free-standing building in Simi Valley which used to a Coco's. Because of that, Dear Hubby decided to swing over to the Newbury Park location of IHOP to order to-go breakfast for us after he was in T.O. for a doctor's appointment. Not being familiar with the menu, he thought that would be a good introduction.I'd give 4 stars for the packaging and the quality of the to-go food. However, the value started declining once I saw the receipt for what DH brought home. We were over-charged $2 on a simple Belgian waffle. $14.29 for some baked dough?! DH saw the option with strawberries ("Strawberry Cheesecake Waffle"), so ordered that one, but had them leave off whipped cream and the cheesecake filling topping. Instead of saying, "Oh sir, that would be the plain Belgian waffle with butter and syrup", they just charged $2 extra for what amounted to 2 sliced strawberries in a little side container. Highway robbery for the amount alone, let alone the fact that I didn't have the dairy items. We all know how inflation was impactful in 2022, and thankfully less so this year. 11.6% increase over the last two years. Thus, a Belgian waffle in 2019 was, let's say $7.99. Even at 12%, that's $8.95 now. At $14.29, if my rusty math (and help from Google) are correct, that's a 79% increase! That's nuts. When the IHOP does open in Simi, we will likely go occasionally, but we'll be looking for discounts. It just doesn't cost very much in ingredients to make pancakes or waffles. DH made out somewhat better in ordering a pancake combo. For the price of what used to get you steak and eggs not that long ago, he received pancakes, 2 pieces of bacon, small portion of scrambled eggs, and excellent hash browns (I had two bites, and would gladly order them on my own).Anyway, the takeaway is that restaurant food is getting pretty out of hand on the pricing, and the quality doesn't always match what we're expected to pay. I'm pretty sure that the workers aren't being paid 79% more than they were before the pandemic. They do get a bump in tips, since we are expected to tip on the total amount of the bill. Rant is now over for this morning.

The food, as always, is good but a little cold today. A little pricey for 2 breakfasts and 2 teas. $35.

The food is standard IHOP fair but the service was good. Got us seated quick, checked in on us, and didn’t make us feel rushed.
