That is a traditional place where you will find quality, if you want fancy rolls you are wrong. Its the best sushi I ever had and it was just rice and fish, nothing else needed

I've haven't been to japan yet but I've had sushi all over the world and this is the best I've had so far. Not the usual quick innexpensive sushi environment, you pay more, but you get a unique eating experience from someone who is a master of their craft. I don't live in cali but eating here is one of the highlights of my trip, and can't wait to go back when I am in town again.

Kanda Sushi is a must-try for anyone craving authentic sushi. From the fresh, high-quality fish (much of it from Japan!) to the skilled and friendly chef, everything about this place is fantastic. This is the closest you'll get to experiencing true Japanese sushi without flying to Japan.

My wife and I have travelled the world, lived in many cities and are sushi snobs. Since moving back to the area, it has been an absolute challenge and disappointment with finding great quality sushi and omakase that is not insanely overpriced and underwhelming.

Then we found Kanda Sushi. It is in a bit of a strip mall like most things out here. It is unassuming at first glance and traditional in its style and selections.

It is not the cheapest option but well worth the price when you consider that the quality is super high end fish from Japan and locally sourced west coast (Santa Barbara Uni & Ebi and Seattle Peuget Sound Kumomoto Oysters).

Every single piece was fresh, flavorful and does not require soy or wasabi - it melts in your mouth! You can tell that the chef and staff really care about what they do and maintain highest quality and service.

Our Omakase was about $140 per person for about 16-18 pieces of some of the freshest sushi I have had in quite some time!

If you want a bunch of rolls with weird sauces, pickled bits, cream cheese and fried stuff - this is not the place for you. You will be denied service and honestly deserve it.

But if you want a traditional experience with a real chef who respects quality and the craft - give Kanda a chance and be prepared to drop $100+ per person for an incredible experience.

We will be returning again and again to join earlier in the day with even fresher and more bountiful options since the menu is sourced daily.

If you cannot splurge for a bottle of Kubota - go with the Kikusui (chilled) as a great option.

Thanks chef & kanda staff - Arigato Gozaimasu!

Small overpriced portions. The quality is not worth the price!

Although very friendly staff, EXTREMELY OVER PRICED. I got spicy tuna on crispy rice (which was one giant one?!?) and a 6pc california roll $31.00. Crazyyy. Super small menu, my rice was old or something had a dark see through look to it. No spicy mayo either so confused how they make spicy tuna.

This is hands down the best sushi restaurant in the Thousand Oaks / Westlake Village area (and I’ve eaten at them all, multiple times (except the bad ones, that was a one time thing)). This is a family owned, traditional Japanese restaurant that prides itself on great quality ingredients - and it shows in every aspect of the experience. It’s not cheap - but good sushi never is - but it’s equally not overpriced (I guess you can call that value for money). Go here, it’s great and you’ll love the food.

Let’s say it together: Traditional. No sugar sauces or flavorless fish. It’s an experience. Now there’s a way to muddle your way through the menu in a mass sushi kinda way but here one must give in to the menu. We sat at the sushi bar and had an amazing meal with buttery fish and flavors beyond explanation. Now this kind of experience comes with a price tag but if you’re over the bland grind and want an escape that’s just next door, this is where you can accomplish it.

Sushi was delicious! It tasted fresh, and flavorful. Server was so kind and friendly and make sure to periodically check in on us. Food was reasonably priced but more importantly super tasty! Will be back and would highly recommend to anyone looking for high quality sushi!

Finally stopped by, recommended by keith. We tried so many sushi over last 30 years including 3 michelin stars in Japan.Usually never make to-go sushi but wife was waiting for me at home.Ordered 7 different sushi that we always get. Packed nicely and labeled.Used red sushi rice vinegar that high end use. Very surprisingly delight and enjoyed each piece. Can’t wait to dine-in. Thank you.
