Fried chicken is not that great. Service is poor (by Japanese restaurant standards).

Bone-in chicken is good to try, but it takes little bit long to cook. The karaage(fried chicken) is not as good as I expected. The coating is soooo thick, the meat is just slightly flavored, or marinate time too short? It's juciy and tender but lack of flavor.(in my opinion)

Came for lunch with kids, they loved the food. Reminded us of our Japan experience. The fried chicken was killer. We loved the pudding for dessert. We will come back!

I really wanted to love this place after hearing so much about it, but I thought on my visit, it was just okay. Some standouts, some just okay. I would come back to give this place another chance.
Parking is easy in Old Torrance area. This place gives that small seating environment with nice vibes. It’s more of a place for snacks and drinks than a complete meal. I’d love to come back to watch a game or a late night place to eat/drink.
Didn’t realize until I got there that their menus are different for lunch and dinner. Will have to come back for their other menu.
I’d recommend making reservations. When we came it was relatively empty but most tables were marked reserved (including ours).
Now let’s get on to the food.
Appetizers we got the tofu with kimchi and garlic. It’s a common appetizer and they did it well. If anything, it could use more of the fried/crunchy garlic
I love the fried brussel sprouts. Somehow with how it’s prepared and served, they batter stays one consistently. Perfectly cooked. Wish the seasoning was done better since you get some bits with lots of flavor and some bites with just brussel/batter.
Bone-in chicken is a must. A small show where they cut it in front of you when it arrives and if you get the garlic fried rice, they’ll pour the sauce from the chicken on it. It’s a nice touch. The chicken is juicy and flavorful.
Garlic fried rice is forgettable in my mind. Needs more garlic flavor. The egg on the hot place over fries the egg so when you mix it all, it’s not very consistent.
Also got the 3 combo chicken. This was kind of the disappoint for me. While juicy, I don’t think it’s as amazing as people say. Portion seems very small for $20. I think if anything, they should include 1 or 2 sauces for you to select from when buying the chicken. $1 for each sauce seems without letting you order at least 1 or two with your combo just seems like a money grab.
Overall the service is great, staff are friendly and welcoming.
I’ll give this place a try since I do enjoy the food and vibes but for now I’ll keep my review as is.

4.5 rounded to a 5 - came here around 9pm after a round of golf in pv. This place had been on my bookmarked list, and their late (ish) hours led us to give the place a try, and boy, it did not disappoint. We ordered the mascarpone and black beans with crackers app, and it was delicious!
Their main chicken entree, garlic fried rice, and their udon were also all very good (would pass on the rice next time). We ended the meal with the matcha tiramisu and left super stuffed and satisfied.

The food was not bad but we were chased out by the waiter soon after we finished our desserts. The waiter said there was another group of people waiting and asked that we leave. My group was a party of 8 but it was rude, very rude to chase us out.

There is literally no bad marks on this place I can think of. My garlic rice took a long time but then I got it and just wished I had order two.

Bone-in chicken and garlic rice was hands down the best chicken & rice combo I’ve ever had in my life. So delicious!

Local Japanese chicken restaurant. Definitely worth trying. My favorites are the roasted chicken leg with garlic rice and the fried chicken bowls.
