Korean barbecue was decent but not memorable. The food was fine, though not among the better spots. Lack of large bottles of sriracha and main sauces made the experience frustrating. Service was somewhat slow, but staff clearly tried and remained very friendly and responsive throughout. For a first Korean barbecue visit, this works as an accessible introduction. For better value and stronger flavor, Koreatown locations set a higher standard.

Came here to try it out for a little date night. It turned out to be a very disappointing and ruined night.
The waiter took long to bring out our drinks and forgot twice what drinks we ordered. The grill kept turning off on us twice. Waited 15 minutes just for someone to notice.
When we did order, the food came out pretty fast but he brought out the wrong order.
After that we didn’t see him again for a while.
When we did ask for more sides or sauce he would forget and they never came.
The sauce was finally brought out AFTER we payed.
I do not recommend coming here. I sure as hell won’t be back.

2nd time here.
We need reservation before seated.
Dim lighting, trying to project as romantic quiet plsmace.
Unfortunately, it came as completely the opposite. The music was so loud, that we had to request to tune down the volume.
The waiting staff wss very slow, unresponsive to request for service.
The BBQ meat was acceptable, quite fresh.
Impression of the restaurant is quite negstive.

Fist time there with family of 7 no kids, automatic gratuity. Shred with the hostess that it was our fist time and she do not tell the waiter and the waiter didn't ask. They took our order, it took a while and then when the food go there they brought everything and just put everything in no order in the table raw, pork, beef, and shrimp zero explanation, no confirmation of my food allergy that is in my app. It was crazy. I had to get up and ask a different waiter to get forks for the table. Very disappointing I share with waiter her apologized and tried to make it up he did better.
When you upgrade your grilling to the premium they disappear and you don't get your value as you can only order a certain amount. When you go to order more and they don't show up and you order more to make sure they got you order in, they charge you for not eating it. They don't give you enough tongs so cross contamination is unavoidable.
Excellent menu and food. Staff was friendly but not as quick as we would like. Enjoyed atmosphere
Had the regular all you can eat. Great deal overall. When we got there there were only two people working and unfortunately took a bit too long to get anything. It was good that we ordered everything we wanted at once. Some meats were not that great, if you like really good meats you should consider the premium all you can eat.
I dont usually rate a restaurant that I go to but this restaurant has a worst restaurant service ever. If it's not to my bf I will not bother myself going to this place.

Took forever to get our food when the table next to us sat down after us and got everything much faster
Not worth going, servers are extremely backed up and don’t actually stay to serve designated tables. Instead they go to every single one, so you’d be the last to be taken care of after being seated. You’ll be stuck having to wave your hand or signal them to come and they look at you and leave. The condiments were served late, our food was late, we didn’t have napkins, couldn’t even get our rice paper. It was so bad. All we did was go in and eat plain old meat with no condiments. . Also, it’s so obvious they only cater to the people who order their “special” menu lol. The more expensive meats. This place sucks! 😕

I haven’t been to Gen in years, and I probably won’t return. From the start, the experience was disappointing — our table was “clean,” but leftover beers and drinks from previous customers sat on the nearby window ledge.
Gen has changed how they serve Korean BBQ. Traditionally, it comes with a full spread of banchan and sides, but we only got meat and drinks. Our server said someone else would bring the sides… and no one ever did. This isn’t Korean BBQ anymore — maybe call it Korean-styled grill.
After 30 minutes with no water, no sides, and dirty dishes still at our table, I finally had to slide up to the front desk to ask for help. The floors were slippery with grease, so proceed with caution if you come here. They only brought water. The only person who actually helped was a runner who wasn’t even assigned to our table — she brought the sides, refills, and cleaned up. She’s the only one who got a tip.
At the end, our server reappeared to process payment, got our order wrong, overcharged us, and told us to “just subtract the drinks from the total.” How are customers supposed to pay correctly with that?
Gen seems to be catering to a more American audience, but in doing so, it has lost it has washed away what makes Korean BBQ, Korean. I remember it being great for groups and value — those memories are gone.

The food at Gen KBBQ was decent, and the service was fine, but the overall experience was affected by how loud it was inside. The noise level made it hard to enjoy the meal or have a normal conversation. It’s a lively spot, but a bit too loud for my taste.

We just had the absolute worst kbbq experience here at Gen. First off we sat at a booth near the bar area which had flickering lights and remnants of food on the glass wall. The floor was wet and very slippery. The wait staff took 15 minutes to get our food and drink order after sitting down. We've come here in the past and the staff would take our order as they took us to the table, not this time. When we received our sides, they seem to have all been sitting out for some time. The kimchi cumcumbers were mangled too. Even the rice wasn't cooked properly and was very mushy. This is when the flies started appearing. First just one, but these little flies kept coming in large numbers to the point that we felt grossed out and left. $70 for two people down the drain. The brisket that we did cook looked chewed up. When cooked it was very tough and chewy. Typically at kbbq establishments the brisket will be in very neat rolls with marbled fat. Here is was probably not thawed correctly and torn from whatever frozen hunk of beef the had. This was absolutely terrible. We used to come here often but we do not plan on returning ever again. There are much better kbbq restaurants in the city.
