Get combos w tempura bowl or sashimi, either cold or hot soba or udon...we've eaten all versions. Their handmade noodles r the best. We order take-home, cook-your-own fresh noodles for New Years. Comes w tsuyu. Great way to start the new year!! Been coming for years.

This is a great, charming restaurant. The interior is a little small so a group larger than 6 might want to call ahead.
I had the zaru udon with a side of veggie tempura. The cold dipping sauce was so refreshing after a hot day of moving furniture.

Great place for one of the best soba in southern CA. Fast and simple soba restaurant. Don't be fooled by the simple interior. The dishes are authentic.

With no exaggeration whatsoever, this was the best Japanese meal I've had in United States in years. The zaru soba was fresh and the tempura was excellent.
Highly recommend.

Food is good here. My first time stopping in. It's a small restaurant and it gets packed quickly. I had the cold zaru soba and tempura. Chewy soba noodles done perfect. There tempura is also done perfect not oily at all. Light and crispy. You can tell they spend time perfecting it. Also had maguro yamakakke. Fresh and delicious. They give slices of maguro instead of cubes but still really good.
Soba comes with No radish. You have to pay extra. Why don’t they put that in he total price. Without it it’s salty. I can’t taste anything else. This place is overrated. Soba noodle was bit soggy.
They have some of the best tempura I've had - comparable to the best I've had in Japan. I asked for the tempura bowl with the sauce on the side, and they obliged.
My wife got the mushroom udon soup special, and the broth was delicious and flavorful. I liked it much more than the default udon with broth.
The place is very small and can probably seat around 20 people max. It has surprisingly good business despite this, so you'll probably want to come earlier if you want to get a seat.
The lady helping us was very nice. I plan to return.
Another overrated jp restaurant. Tokyo central has better soba.

This is a small traditional Japanese restaurant serving soba or udon combo dishes such as tempura, eel, tuna, salmon, chicken and beef donburi. Also small selection of sushi. Cooked food is there main offerings. Since the menu has various stuff it’s hard to say one dish is superior or not. It’s a good place for pleasant lunch with a friend or a colleague. Interior is a bit dated and a bit messy.
Parking: Plenty
Wheelchair accessibility: It’s on the ground floor

Really happy to have found this authentic Japanese spot. Came for weekday lunch and there were plenty of street spots available.
It's a cozy little restaurant where the owner speaks Japanese and the staff takes time to walk you through the menu. Everything feels genuine and welcoming.
The mentai cold udon was the highlight - the noodles had that perfect chewy texture!! Their combo sets are great value too.
What makes this place special is its simplicity - just honest, well-made Japanese food in a warm atmosphere!

Love their hot udon! The noodles are smooth and the broth is light and tasty. Perfect meal for a cold day. I like to order the combos because it comes with your choice of udon or soba (hot or cold)
Combos:
~Crab, scallop & ikura rice bowl: good but the seafood portions were small.
~Unagi box: husband's favorite!
~Deluxe tempura bowl: shrimp, white fish, scallop, squid, eggplant, kabocha, potato, green bean, mushroom. It's not as crispy but it's pretty good.
Limited seating
Plenty of parking
