Very authentic looking Izakaya right in the middle of Torrance. Loved that the beer comes with frosted cold glasses and the atmosphere is super chill. Plates were a little pricey for the size, but everything was fresh and delicious. The wait staff was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed.
Food was good as always but disappointed with the service. It was so hard to get our server. Our server forgot our 2 orders and when we approached her, we were told that what we ordered were sold out.
Absolutely delicious food and the service is spot on. The Sapporo on tap is served in frozen glasses, which is next level. Always go for the chicken thigh & green onion skewers (get two orders) and shishito peppers & mushrooms. A little bummed that the prices increased recently, but price hikes seems to be hitting everyone, so restaurants aren't exempt. It was surprising to pay more for something I knew the cost of already. (No knock on the business, just a harsh reality of living in these inflationary times.)
We have been to this restaurants for many years. I usually don't write any reviews. Food and service used to be better. However last night our experience was horrible ! For two people we order about 8 to 10 dishes, the food came quickly and non stop ! you can clearly see the table is filled with plates and we are struggling to enjoy and eat our food. As a server who knows what they are doing you should observe your diner and space out the firing of the food. At one point I was so ignore and had to tell our server to hold off and slow down on bringing the food out but of course the message was not understood or taken seriously by our request. While we were trying to finished our food on the table the next dish which is sushi was brought out !!! It felt like they are trying to rush you to finished your food and leave the restaurant.
Very accommodating and per usual the food was outstanding. Tables are a little too tightly wound together but if that's the vibe, then it's the vibe. We did get rushed out so that they can seat another table which is understandable but at the same time interrupts the convo that was going on. 🤷🏻♂️
Met up with some friends at Hachi for dinner and this place definitely feels like a very traditional Japanese spot. The menu has a lot to offer and we went all out ordering a bunch of different things to share. The raw oysters were super fresh, pork belly was nicely grilled, and the scallops were on point. We also tried nigiri and sashimi — everything tasted clean and well-prepared. The snapper collar was a nice treat and the chicken karaage was crispy and juicy, perfect with a squeeze of lemon.
One thing I noticed — they don’t even have a California roll on the menu. That’s when you know it’s the real deal, authentically Japanese.
Service was friendly and the vibe is laid back, definitely a good spot for hanging out with friends over quality Japanese food.

I recently dined at Izakaya Hachi, and I can honestly say it was the best restaurant experience I’ve ever had. The highlight of my visit was the incredible service provided by Thomas.
From the moment I arrived, Thomas went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and cared for. He was attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and offered excellent recommendations that made the meal truly unforgettable. Every interaction felt genuine, warm, and professional, which elevated the entire dining experience.
The food at Izakaya Hachi is already outstanding, but it was Thomas’s service that really set this visit apart. He anticipated needs before I even had to ask, ensured everything was perfectly timed, and created an atmosphere that made me feel like a valued guest rather than just another customer.
Because of Thomas, my visit to Izakaya Hachi stands out as one of the most memorable dining experiences I’ve ever had. I highly recommend this restaurant, and if you have the chance, I strongly suggest asking for Thomas—he truly represents the gold standard of hospitality.

I absolutely love this restaurant—it feels like I’ve stepped straight into Japan.** It’s cute and quaint, and while the parking lot is small, I’ve always been able to find a spot (plus there’s extra parking in the adjacent lot). You really get the best of all worlds here.
We had nigiri sushi that was incredibly fresh—**especially the toro**, which they only have in limited quantities each day. If it’s available, don’t hesitate! The oysters are **to die for**—they’re on the larger side but super fresh with a buttery finish.
We also had beef tongue, fried chicken, tamago, and a few meat skewers—all fantastic. I’m a big fan of their **rich pork broth** too. Most of the staff are Japanese, which makes the experience feel even more authentic and welcoming.
They also have a great sake selection, and if you don’t finish your bottle, you can take it home. Everything is clean, and the presentation is on point. Perfect spot for **lunch, dinner, or a cozy date night!
