Stopped by Jang Su Jang in Torrance and the place was bustling, with only a few tables open for dine-in.
Ambiance (4/5): Lots of natural light mixed with warm-toned lighting creates a cozy and homey feel. The restaurant has plenty of space, with tables for both small groups and larger parties of up to 8. It was lively and loud inside, but in a good way—exactly the kind of noise level you’d expect at a thriving Korean spot. Beautifully decorated and welcoming.
Food (4/5): I ordered the Jangsu Bossam, which came with rice and two portion sizes of banchan. Everything was well-seasoned, with the cucumbers being the standout—crisp, fresh, and addictive. The bossam itself was flavorful and generously portioned (marketed for 2 but easily feeds 3). We also tried the bibimbap, which was satisfying and nicely done. Overall, both dishes were good, though not quite unforgettable.
Service (4/5): Since we ordered to go, I didn’t get the full dine-in experience, but ordering was quick, friendly, and efficient. I’ll update if I get the chance to try table service next time.
Overall: Solid Korean food in a cozy, busy setting. Worth returning to, though maybe not a place I’d find myself craving often.

We were impressed with the location and ambiance. And when we walked in, we were seated quickly with no wait, and the service was excellent. The food was scrumptious, which met our expectations for satisfaction. 👍

A very nice pleasant surprise. I ordered the Haemul Pajeon and the Naengmyeon “Cool Noodle Soup”. Don’t ask me to pronounce these as my Korean is no good! Thanks to my wife who looked up the correct spelling.
The cold noodle soup was perfect especially on such a hot day in LA! The noodles were a bit chewy but the broth was excellent. The seafood pancake was also a great find!

I got dumpling soon tofu ($18) and it tasted a bit sour. My friend's hot pot was also quite bland and the broth tasted thin. Did not hit the spot for either of us. Would not come again. (The service was AMAZING though!!)

Honestly it felt like Korea - clean, modern, everything delicious. Really good portions, too! We got the mille feuille beef thing and it was really fun and the dipping sauce was delicious! Dolsot bibimbap came in a low, wide stone pot providing a lot of surface area to make crispy rice and keep it warm. Banchan was good! Kiddo crushed the fish cakes and japchae which are usually bland and left aside. Will come back!

Ordered Dolsot Bimbimbap (bimbimbap with beef in a hot stone bowl), Beef Bulgogi, and Yachae Pajeon (vegetable pancake). There are a lot of side dishes that come with a meal so it was good to sample a bit of everything, great taste, good quality kimchi. The Dolsot Bimbimbap was a very visually appealing bowl and a sunny side up egg in the middle. Mixed together, this made a very delicious dish with the gochujang sauce that you can add to the dish. The rice is soft and it may be difficult to scrape the burnt rice at the bottom but it gives the rice a nice crunch too. The Beef Bulgogi has a nice sweetness and the portion was alright to share. The Yachae Pajeon was my favorite dish here. The pancake is thicker than you would expect; light and fluffy, it tastes really good with the assorted vegetables inside. This is a great place to bring a group together for a meal or to have a meal of your own. This is located in a plaza with ample parking. It does get busy during dinner so there may be a wait to be seated. Staff are kind but are very quick to ask for your order.

Overall, the atmosphere was good... but I don't think the food was worth the price... I wish they used better quality meat.

How come I don't have mixed grain rice every time I go? Before that, I thought it was because it was a little late (but not too late, around 8 o'clock), but 7 o'clock is not too late to have dinner, and there is no mixed grain rice even at that time. These days, Koreans mostly eat mixed grain rice, but I don't understand why they only do it once a day. If you care about your customers, shouldn't you be ready until you receive the last order? It feels like the store is too focused on doing business. Seeing that there are more foreigners in the store, it seems like they are focusing on foreigners who like Korean food but don't like rice. I hope we also do business for Koreans. I don’t think there are many Koreans who don’t have a party these days. It's just a difference between a lot and a little. I hope you do business for your customers. Don’t run a convenient business centered around a store.

The kalguksu was incredibly delicious, and the noodles were perfectly chewy. The yukgaejang broth had a rich, appetizing color, and overall, I highly recommend everyone in Torrance to try eating at Jang Soo Jang. The food quality is top-notch in Southern California, the prices are affordable, and the service was exceptionally friendly. Definitely a restaurant I’d love to visit again."

The bossam was the worst and the soft tofu was not so good... The side dishes were okay, but I went there after reading the reviews and left disappointed.
