One of the main things I like about Jessie's pies has nothing to do with pie at all. It has to do with the black and clear-top container it comes in. Many, if not most pie producers use this similar type plastic container and they are all usually a bear to open without smashing the pie or putting so much pressure on the lid that the pie flies out across the room and bounces off the wall. I just want to thank you and who ever it was there that put that little tab on the clear top so as to easily open the container. It makes all the difference and has saved my desert several times. Before the tab, you had to physically warp the shape of the container to get it open. Now, it's just an easy tab pull away. So, thanks sooo much, and pa-lease tell FoodMaxx here in Santa Rosa, CA to carry your Lemon Meringue pie, my fave. Jerry

I've bought, on separate occasions months apart, 3 dutch apple pies from Jessie Lord Bakery through Vons and every single time the crust has been raw even though the package says "ready to serve"

Purchased a cherry pie at Albertson's yesterday. 6.95 in the garbage, The pie was filled with some sort of inedible cherry compote. All crust very little filling and the whole thing was disgusting. Never again.

Took one scoop out of this apple wanna be pie and pulled out this blue piece of what I would guess is a rubber glove? I realize i look like a monster for not getting a slice from the pie. However this was the only way I could break threw the rock hard crust. Along with the rubber the only other thing on my fork was crust. Upon further inspection of this rock it contained literally 3 whole slices of apple. That being said even if it hadn't come with a colorful surprise there's no way I would have ate this bowl of crust.

The Lemon Meringue pie is the absolute BEST I have ever tasted in my life! The lemon had the right amount of tartness and smooth, the meringue was perfect and even the crust was perfect - tender and flaky. I wish I knew how to bake a pie like this.

A cherry pie without cherries! dry and no taste. I bought it at Ralphs because it was on sale for $3.00. It was a $3.00 pie.

Worst pecan pie I have ever bought. Way over priced. The crust was hard and thick and tasteless. I will never purchase this pie ever again. It was not a good tasting pie at all.

Purchased the pumpkin pie. Crust was so hard I needed a steak knife to cut it. Filling was mediocre. I paid almost $11.00 for this poor excuse for a pie. A truly waste of money, threw most of it away. Also it must be very chemically laden since it needed no refrigeration in the store. Pure garbage!

Speaking for the cream pies..... We started with the chocolate cream pie and were extremely surprised by how good it was. Very rich chocolate filling, real heavy whipped cream topping and a nice thick savory crust. Have now tried the coconut cream pie, which was equally as good and finally the banana cream which was not quite as good as it could be. But for around $12 at Vons, for what tastes virtually homemade, we'd highly recommend them.
