I saw this business online at first, and while I thought the candy was beautiful, the price was completely out of my price range; it never occurred to me to place an order. Then the owner was at the Japanese garden for December Nights so I could see how nice the candy looks in person, she was offering a discount... and I placed an order. In recent years it feels like everyone I know has been placed on one special medical diet or another. It's so hard these days to find pre-prepared food that multiple people can enjoy, and when I do it usually isn't particularly impressive. These candies are dairy free, gluten free, sodium free, low in sugar, and beautifully packaged in a way that feels like you're really getting something special. The taste of these is mildly sweet and mildly flavored. The texture is the best part, with soft centers, firm exteriors, and fun crunchy "rock" bits: great contrasts. I'm not a big fan of Japanese sweets, but if you are, these are a prime example. But honestly? Mostly I'm grateful for having a special food to share with my loved ones.

I've tried quite a few crystal treats and Misaky Tokyo is my fave - good taste and good outer crunch. If you're open to trying more Asian-influenced flavors (which are usually sweet and balanced), then you won't be disappointed. I've tried both the Wine Box and Lunar New Year Box. I must say they do fruity flavors SO WELL - yuzu, strawberry cherry, passion fruit dragon fruit - all so addicting. They also do traditionally Asian flavors (like matcha) well - not sweet and true to the bitterness of good matcha. Sure, there were a couple flavors I didn't prefer - like lavender mango... But honestly the quality and taste of Misaky Tokyo is far superior compared to some of its competitors, I don't mind that. Also it's fun to try so many flavors and the presentation of wrapped ribbon boxes are always beautiful, it feels like a nice treat! Pro tip: if you want your crystals crispy wait 2-3 days eating!

I got mine the other day...unfortunately they tasted like soap and fragrance (and not in the way I was expecting). Super disappointing. They're beautiful but in person some of them had dried out and crumbled apart in the box. After trying 2 flavors they had to be thrown away. The intense fragrance flavoring made my mouth itch too, and I'm certain I'm not allergic to any listed ingredients. Definitely not worth the high price. Incredibly disappointed.

This company is so accommodating. Their pickup time is 12-3PM but since I won't make it by three, I messaged them and told them that I can make it by 3:30PM. They agreed and even gave me samples!!! I would never forget that.My mother in law loved the crystal candies especially the lavender gem in the rainbow collection.
