Closed?! I went on Sunday and it was not open when it said it was. They don't pick up phone either. There's an eviction notice so it's gotta be closed.. I think yelp needs to update

I used to love this place in '16, '17, '18, things went down hill after that. I hate to see this place go and all the old employees like Leo, Theo and Helen but I hope I can run into them in another Asian restaurant. Those employees made the restaurant. RIP RYO

It looks like they're being evicted. I know they were dinged by the LA County Public Health for seating people indoors when that was still a no-no. I had takeout then, but the wait estimate was off by 10 minutes, it was OK.

Looks like they are closed forever, we went this past Friday evening about 8pm and they were closed. . . There was a man outside that said they closed about 10 days ago. :-( I don't know what rating in terms of stars to give for them being closed...

Great place for late night food and drinks! Staff are all incredibly friendly and charismatic! Highly recommend the unagi burrito, a tasty fusion I've only seen here. We had a lot of fun time and good memories here. Will come back very often.

As of this writing, open till midnight, not 2 am. Still plenty of time for a late night meal and drinks with friends. Good place to eat, get drinks, and hang out with friends - relatively cheap drinks and food. One thing to note - this place anticipates you'll be sitting and talking with your friends for awhile so they bring out the food pretty slowly. Also, cash only now.

This is my favorite spot to have beer, sake, and dinner! In that order(lol) Very friendly and knowledgeable staff with a cool atmosphere. Large selection of imported beers(on tap and draft) sochu, and Sake! (Love to see it!) Feels like being transported to an Izakaya in Tokyo! I highly recommend the Tuna Carpaccio, Horenso Spinach & Bacon Salad and the Ume Chazuke 10/10

I am reluctant to write this review as I have had great experiences here before 2021. As I walked in I saw the CASH ONLY sign, no problem. We ordered about 7 items with a beer and tea. I finished my beer and the waitress asked if I would like another beer and I asked for glass of water, She said they no longer serve tap water just bottled. At the end of the meal I left the cash along with double the tax tip and left. The lady came out to the parking lot and informed us we were short in payment. I gave her another $20 which is exactly how much would have covered the short payment and tip. If I made an error I am very sorry and I am not accusing anyone of being deceitful. The CASH ONLY, no tap water left a bad taste in my mouth, as far as the missing $20, If this happens to someone else, it's not the first time.

If a Japanese Izakaya and a seedy dive bar had a baby, you'd have this restaurant. You don't need to dress up to go here. You don't need to pretend to be anyone else to try to fit in here. This place is where the local working man would go to get drunk and randomly yell at the wall. The service sucks. The quality of the food is poor. But the beer is cold and the sign is open.

I do not like writing bad reviews. Usually, if I had a bad experience, I just chalk it up to a learning experience, but I woke up this morning, starving after spending $80 on food at this place last night, and I'm more than a little hangry. I will give this to them, when food DID come, it was very tasty, but here is a rundown of what happened. We showed up with a big group and sat down, with two hours before a movie across the street. The waitress came and took our order. She never brought or asked if we wanted water, and then basically disappeared for the next two hours. While ordering, half of what we wanted wasn't available, which is fine. I don't blame them for not having certain items, even after the last year. Then, roughly 30 minutes went by without getting any food. Again, that's fine. Not everywhere is quick, but when the food started coming, it dribbled out in such a way that we didn't realize until 45 minutes later and we needed to leave to catch our movie that we hadn't gotten a good a quarter to third of our food. We didn't have time to wait, and we had too many people to really think straight. The company was good, but the restaurant was not a good experience, which is a same, because the food that did come, was great, and the waitress, when she was around, was absolutely lovely. I give a LOT of leeway to businesses during the pandemic, and I am wary about even posting this because I know that companies are struggling, but we were one of only two groups that I saw in the place. In retrospect, we should have gone to another place because we had a deadline, but I have never had an experience were we didn't get half our food (personally, while others got everything).

I've been a customer at this local bar for a few years. I have come several times with friends and almost always the tab is fairly high. Always paid off my tab by credit card, always paid off my card in full. I know the waitress (Kazumi-san) on a first name basis and she remembers me because I always order onigiri. I frequently interact with another dude (I think his name is Koji but not sure?) and usually he's relatively friendly. When covid hit, I stopped going out to restaurants and had not been to this restaurant for almost a year out of precaution. I ordered some takeout in January (see credit card statement attached) but besides that hadn't been here until today. The last time I came before that, I think was close to start of the pandemic (a little over 1 year ago).@ After getting vaccinated, I came here tonight to celebrate my wife's grad school graduation. I planned to pay the bill for the two of us, plus a friend and the bill was about $160. Again, I planned to pay it as I always did with my credit card. Today, the dude (Koji) told me this business is cash only and there's an ATM in the back if needed... I'm guessing this must have something to do with a recent change because of difficulties with covid. I reluctantly went and got cash from the ATM (paid $2.80 for the transaction) and paid cash for the bill. As he came back for the bill, I casually asked him "when did you guys decide to switch to cash only?" He then said "two years ago. We also accept Bitcoin and dogecoin as well." This is actually contradictory to the whole cash only thing but whatever. Attached is my receipt from my CREDIT CARD four months ago (January 2021) in which he accepted it. Clearly this guy is full of s**** I'm okay with following rules of businesses and I'm happy to help out businesses that are struggling. But I can't stand businesses that lie to me. He could have just let me know that he recently decided to switch to cash only due to covid difficulties and I would have understood. I cannot trust businesses that treat me like this, so I will regrettably not be coming here with my wife again until this company has revised its ethics.

Been a customer for a couple years. Great food to order in and even dine in. Just learn what you like, learn a little japanese while you're at it, order and enjoy! Kanuni Dons & potato croquettes ftw great drinks too hot and cold

4/20/21 vaccines for 16 yr are available now.. but this is the last place to dine for quite awhile ... THERE were 3 tables being service but it was beyond slow... that we got up to grab the soy sauce/sirachi on a counter 15 ft away. $3-5/yakitori stick was overcooked, small and not that fresh. I was sarcastically told to go to another yakitori place if I seek common yakitori dipping sauce or yuzo paste. Everything served was marked up bottle or plastic including water. There was No ice available. The Atmosphere, service, food is NOT here anymore... I don't see the difference of buying drinks at Bristols and drinking outside in a parking lot versus in this restaurant now. Experience was disappointing that I didn't want to order anything else. It's also CASH only now.

Save your money... Avoid. Service is very poor. Business is slow... food quality went downhill... Food quantity went from small to mini size. Price is the same (overpriced) ... but now you get less service, less quality ingredient, and less food portion. This place use to be good before covid but I think the hired help is in desperation. Not clean too so if you go, bring your own hand wipes. Table feels sticky...
