I've been coming here for decades, a tradition every year around Christmas/New Years my family would come out here and feast! The food never disappoints and there isn't a single place I've been across the states that compares to the meat we get here. Wishing the new owners a very happy new year, I already can't wait to come back again.
Definitely recommend putting in a reservation if you're planning on stopping by, it can get very busy!

This is such a great place for a stellar meal. Excellent food, excellent service! Be sure to make a reservation. It's a little noisy in the restaurant but the food is worth it!

Stopped by Sei-Ko-En in Torrance after hearing about it for a while, and it’s a really solid spot for Japanese yakiniku. The space is simple and comfortable, and everything feels focused and intentional. It’s easy to see why this place has been around for so long. We tried the Kobe Style American Wagyu Tongue, ox tongue with green onion, Kobe Style American Wagyu Prime Rib, minced raw beef, short rib soup, and spicy pork belly. The quality of the meat was consistently high across the board. The standouts for me were the wagyu prime rib and the wagyu tongue — both had great flavor and cooked up perfectly. That said, everything we ordered was well done and tasted fresh. Portion sizes felt right for this style of BBQ and made it easy to enjoy multiple dishes. Service was steady and attentive, and the overall experience felt relaxed and easy. Definitely a dependable spot if you’re looking for quality Japanese BBQ in the Torrance area.

Sei-Ko-En Restaurant in Torrance is the most authentic and best Japanese BBQ in town! I personally love their minced raw beef (yukke) and raw beef liver — you can’t find these items at many places, and they are incredibly fresh and delicious.
We also enjoyed the cold noodles, sirloin, kimchi, prime rib, and bean sprouts — everything was excellent. The servers were nice, friendly, and attentive.
Such a cozy, hidden spot with amazing food. Highly recommended!

Recently went with a group of three and all three of us got food poisoning. Headache, stomachache, muscle ache, chills, and diarrhea for almost a week. Probably the worst case of food poisoning I had.
We suspect it to be the raw yukhoe or raw beef liver. The beef tongue and prime rib were great but would not recommend any of the raw items as they might not be prepared safely. Atmosphere and service were good. Used to go here frequently when it was under a different ownership with cheaper prices and personally better flavoring. Sadly, I don’t think i will go back here again.

Restaurantji Recommends
Sei-Ko-En is a Japanese yakiniku restaurant in Torrance, Los Angeles. The restaurant is simply decorated with promotional menus and posters. Ventilation is not the strongest, so expect to be smelly after the meal. Servers are friendly, attentive, and accommodating. Food is reasonably priced and of good quality. The crunchy Bean Sprouts (USD 8) and Minced Raw Beef (USD 12.50) are both refreshing. Highly recommend the silky-smooth Raw Beef Liver (USD 12.50), which will rock your palate! Don’t forget to order the Mega Mug Sapporo Premium Beer (USD 12) to go with the juicy Kobe Style American Wagyu Prime Rib (USD 22) and flavorful Kobe Style American Wagyu Tongue (USD 22)!

⭐ BEST YAKINIKU I’VE HAD IN LA!
Absolutely stunned by the quality and freshness of the food here! So excited that I forgot to take individual photos… but definitely going back for more!!
⭐ ねぎタン塩 Ox-Tongue (w Green Onion) - Not the extremely thin cuts yet still tender! Seasoned just right.
⭐ 特上カルビ Prime Rib - High quality marbled beef, easy to cook, tender and juicy.
⭐ 上ハラミ Beef Skirt - So chewy and flavorful!! Love love love!
⭐ ナムルMix Slightly Steamed Marinated Vegetables Mix - Korean style, marinated veggies. Refreshing, delicious.
EVERYTHING WAS GREAT! Service and atmosphere are nice and cozy as well! Highly recommend!!!!

Good beef liver, rib eye, torque
It was a yakiniku restaurant where you could really feel Japan. The atmosphere is great. The meat is also great. The minced meat and miso that come with the kimchi and sandwich are also delicious. The clerks are also kind and work quickly, which is great. You can also eat liver sashimi and yukhoe. Cold noodles and yukke bibimbap are average. It would be even better if they had stone-grilled bibimbap.Reservations required.
