The view is amazing, of course. And the meal was excellent. One of the top restaurants in Humboldt County.

As always Moonstone Grill did not disappoint. The food, the service and overall evening was amazing.

We have come to this restaurant several times over the past 20 years or so. Live the view and the ambiance. Looked at the menu online and almost backed out over the prices. Glad we came because the food is extremely good, the service was wonderful, and the view of the beaches and ocean are wonderful. We started with the bread and butter plate. The bread was hot, the butter was shaped like a clam and had spices and herbs that made it deliciously special. We ordered beets with burrata and it was very well done. The beets were cut into nice sized pieces, the burrata was on a bed of some kind of sauce that gave it more flavor and there were crunchy baked or fried carrot strips. The delicata squash was super good. We also had pot roast just the way I like it, nice and lean, on mashed potatoes. Oh, and a green salad we had was very fresh and flavorful. Worth every penny.

I have been coming here for 30 years or so now, and it's been more and more disappointing in the last 20 years or so. I hate to say that, but each time I've been here since 2015, it just keeps getting worse in terms of quality, service, and atmosphere. The last time I came here and actually enjoyed it was New Year's Eve 2006. The prior visits in 1995 and 2004 were great, too, so maybe it's me getting older? This last visit was probably the worst, and I'll never come back here again. The prices are too high; the quality of the food was mediocre, at best. It's a shame, too, when a favorite spot of yours deteriorates over time. But hey, maybe I'm just more cynical and picky now in my middle age. Try it for yourself and see how it goes; I'd like to try it again, to recapture the enjoyment of my earlier years here, but I don't think I will. Also, fix the road into the parking lot! Too many potholes!!

Been there a few times and always a great meal. Staff is friendly and helpful. Only issue is noise levels. This night the solo musician could have turned down the volume. Being able to sit and watch the ocean is always a plus

They people at Moonstone do a great job! Food was amazing and the service was great. If you are able to catch a sunset you won't find a better view in anywhere within a 100 miles.

Abalone, crab, 8oz baseball steak dinner for two. Great bargain for the wonderful atmosphere, perfect cuisine, great service. Highly recommend. Our waiter was excellent. Wish I could remember his name he was very professional which added to a special night. Having the option to pre-book beachside view by the window was a nice option.

We dined here for our anniversary dinner, having booked a few weeks ago. Lovely location by the beach with beautiful scenery, as the sun was setting during our wait.

We arrived 20 minutes early for our 7:00 reservation. As we were waiting, two servers were kind to tell us that we'd be seated soon. Within 5 minutes, we were greeted by a very nice young lady who immediately seated us. Because the temp was in the 50s, it was chilly in the restaurant and had to wear our coats to warm up. Somewhere along the way, the door was finally closed. The restaurant is small and quaint, and you can dress casually or dress up. My husband wore jeans and a nice polo shirt.

Our food and drink order was taken by Naarah, who was nice and cordial. We were aware of the high prices, but the food did not disappoint. Everything from the appetizer (coconut prawns) to the entree (filet mignon/salad/clam chowder/potatoes) to the dessert (creme brulee), was perfect, and on time. The filet was cooked medium rare as we normally order and was absolute perfection for both of our meals. The ONLY downside was that the bar doesn't serve blended drinks, but my moscato was delicious!

Even with 3 glasses of wine, and and an after-dinner expresso added, we paid $340 with the tip, but it was our time to celebrate as we normally do with a very pricey dinner each year. As we were leaving, we were congratulated on our event by the staff.

The menu is available online, so view it before coming so you're not shocked by the prices. The scenery of the ocean also gives a great experience. We will be back again next year!!

Salmon and desert were fabulous. Chicken parmigiana was overcooked and tough. Excellent service and amazing sunset views.

Stunning setting right on the ocean. The menu was on the pricey side, with some offerings seeming a bit overpriced for the preparation. For instance, the small plate octopus was good, not exquisite. The truffle fries were more like average potato wedges not standout for crispiness. The service was pretty accurate and attentive. But above all, the setting was breathtaking, making Moonstone well worth the visit.

This place is trying to pass itself off as a fine dining establishment, when in actuality they are a dive bar with a facelift and $50 meals that anyone with a cookbook could make. Our visit was much less than adequate. We came for an anniversary dinner. Our food was mostly cold, mashed potatoes were more of a soup than a mash, clam chowder was no better than any building with access to fresh clams.
Twice we were approached by drunk patrons and asked for cigarettes. This was never addressed by employees, When my partner tried to use the restroom they were yelled at by another drunk patron urinating with the door unlocked.
So while the building looked clean. (No notice of the rats they have allegedly been shut down for previously) and the service was friendly enough. I wouldn't waste my time or money here again. The view isn't worth it.
