I'm sad that we had a bad experience because this was a lovely spot to sit and people watch. However, my food allergy was completly disregarded. I was careful to mention it when I ordered, but I was served food I couldn't eat. Once the plate arrived and I could smell that I was allergic to the dish, I got up to find the waiter, who said he had alerted the kitchen and would double check. When he returned to the table and confirmed it did contain the ingredient I'm allergic to, it has been so long since we ordered and I was hungry, so I suggested I pick off the parts I couldn't eat. He returned again right after I finished doing that and said he had spoken to the chef and I actually couldn't eat any of it because the ingredient was on all of it. At that point, he went over the menu with me and it turned out I couldn't eat most of what was on it. (I should have been told that when I initially ordered!) I ended up having to order something I didn't really want, that was underwhelming, and was also more expensive than my original order.
The waiter apologized and gave us half off the chips and salsa for our trouble. This ended up being $4 (also, we hadn't realized the chips cost $8 when they were offered to us).
My dining companion is gluten and dairy intolerant, and at least the staff was careful with her allergies.

One of the best Mexican restaurants I have tried. Food is fresh, no products cold from
Bags they claim. Great ambiance for a social dinner.

They nailed everything BUT the food. Really nice bar, indoor and outdoor seating. Really friendly service and subpar food.

Short-staffed, slow service, half closed and mid quality, mid warm food. Disapointed

We absolutely loved our experience at Como in Truckee! From the moment we walked in, the service was beyond exceptional. David was incredibly attentive, patient, and accommodating—making sure every detail of our evening felt special. The onsite manager, Asher, was personable and knowledgeable, adding to the warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The Elote appetizer was Michelin Star worthy —perfectly charred, creamy, and full of flavor. Their fresh chips and salsa were perfectly balanced, crisp and light with just the right kick. And let’s talk about the tortilla soup—rich, comforting, and completely elevated when paired with the perfectly suggested red wine.

It’s clear that since new management came on in April, COMO has stepped into a whole new level of dining excellence. I couldn’t help but laugh remembering that old 1-star review that joked, “¿Cómo puede ser tan malo?” Well, after tonight I can confidently say: ¿Cómo puede ser tan bueno?

If you’re searching for the best Mexican restaurant in Truckee with authentic flavors, fresh ingredients, and exceptional service, this is the place.

Amazingly, eight of us on Monday night were denied service since they didn’t have enough servers! There were tables, just no staff. I can’t imagine how this place turns a profit. But I guess the cheapest way to run a restaurant is not to feed people?

I had their jackfruit fajitas and they were so delicious and spicy. I also ordered two mocktails Pomo and Hibiscus Fresca. Everything I ordered was delicious. My only complain was the guacamole needed more salt but that is to everyone’s preference. I don’t think I saw a burrito option for vegans but I can be wrong. Everything was delicious. Customer service was amazing. They listened to me when I told them I was vegan and immediately started pointing out what they could do to make things vegan. Or what they could remove. I would come here again.

3.5 stars I had the burrito. Asked to add guac & pineapple salsa they forgot. & Burrito was mainly 70% refried beans 30% carne asada. Really cheesey, just expected a little more variety & flavor. My girl got the street tacos if you're Puerto Rican the carnitas tasted close to Pernil 👌🏽. They forgot her salsa roja as well then brought out a different sauce. Service could've been a little better. Asher our server apologized the atmosphere was nice & would possibly give this another shot.

The Shirley temples were made with house grenadine free of preservatives or food dye. The tacos were unique and delicious. Asher was a great server. Highly recommend!

Update one year later: The service was still terrible. We had to ask for our drinks to be refilled, and ask for the check, all after waiting unreasonable amounts of time in between. It was not busy so I’m not sure why there wasn’t more priority to pay attention paying customers. The food was mid, chips and queso were amazing. Not sure if it’s worth trying for a third time.

The food was good, nothing spectacular. The service was basically nonexistent, even though there were few parties dining. It almost felt like it was inconvenient for us to be dining there during their slow time. Disappointing. Oh and chips aren’t complimentary.

Went here because every other restaurant was really busy.

Initially the service was really nice, but then felt neglected after they gave us the food. They may have been understaffed or got a rush hour out of nowhere. I asked for a chip refill when we got our entrees. We never got them. Plus our server didn’t come by again until they had the check and it was too long at that point so I couldn’t even remind her about the chips.

On top of that, at check out their lowest tip option is 18%. I try to be generous with tips, but I usually reserve tips over 15% for above and beyond experiences.

Shrimp burrito was okay, and not filling. My wife said the fish tacos were 4.7/5. The salsas and hot sauces were good.
