“Best sandos in Truckee! It’s not downtown, so usually plenty of free parking. My go to is the Dirka Dirka, but honestly everything I’ve tried has been great. We often will grab a bunch of sandwiches for the fam if we’re going out for the day & in my experience they pack well too. A full sandwich is plenty for me & often we’ll just have a half sandwich per person… or even just a quarter per kid.
Oh and their sSouthwest Cobb salad is soooooo good!
Wait times can be a minute on holidays and weekends… but I usually go off hours or order in advance for pickup.

Parking: It’s a commercial center, so even if it’s crowded you can find parking within a reasonable walk. I’ve never had an issue finding a spot.

Kid-friendliness: Kids won’t complain. (Much) of at least it is completely unjustified. ???”

“I have been having breakfast at the Truckee’s Wagon Train Restaurant off and on for the last twenty years and some things, especially good things, never change. The breakfasts are always simple and tasty and nothing fancy, but..... for me, the country gravy and the biscuits are a wow!! and reminds me of my best friend's mom’s country gravy many years ago. Nothing too fancy since breakfast should be simple and tasty! The service is great and the atmosphere bright and cheerful. Hopefully, here is to another 20 years!”

“Exceptional! We made reservations for my boyfriend’s birthday. We got the price fixe menu and the wine pairings. Every single dish was fantastic and we learned a ton about the wine we were tasting.Wine pairing = 2.5-3 glasses of wine matched with the courses you choose. I wish there would have been more California wines on the menu (I’m biased!) but the wine did not disappoint.Price fixe menu = four choices with two special treats from the chef. Exceptional flavors and presentation.There were at least five different wait staff we interacted with, and the host, all lovely and helpful.Total cost of the meal including tip and tax came to $635.00 for the two of us. We spent about 2.5 hours dining at Trokay and most of the next day talking about it. Highly recommend for a special occasion.”

“Parts of the ritz Carlton Lake Tahoe is under renovation now in June 2024 and the only available restaurant at the time of visit was manzanita. We had a table outside, which has very nice view to mountain. The food was good. I had a burger that has good size patty with toppings. The portion was large. The brisket nacho was ok. Cornhole will keep the kids entertained while waiting for diner. The ahe nachos are a must! Crisp tortillas, fresh ahi, and a mouth watering sweet soy and honey drizzle makes these a must try. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend an evening as a family on our vacation!

We had additional guests decide to tag along and the staff was accommodating to help us make room. However, the server we had taking care of us had an attitude and did not make us aware of an additional charge to split plates until the checks came and were confused on the charges. She may have been having a bad day, but that was not our fault and we did not deserve the eye rolls and exasperated sighs as we ordered. There was also the Truckee farmers market event taking place at the time, but the restaurant was not busy by any means.

Dark, good music, always full of people you know, pool table, buffalo head, they got it all. Despite the name it doesn't cater to tourists in the same way a lot of other places in town do - this is a local's hangout in the best way.”

Despite coming in so late they were courteous, quick and fed us excellent food that was incredibly fresh and delicious. They didn't rush us or make us feel guilty and we were done by closing. Some of the best Thai food I have eaten and if I was local this would be a frequent repeat.
