“We did the four course tasting menu and every course was excellently prepared and exquisitely presented. There are choices for each course so each of us ordered different items so that we could taste everything on the menu. Such interesting items like fir needle ice cream. This is now out favorite restaurant in Truckee and look forward to visiting on future trips to the area. We had high expectations and Trokay exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend Trokay!”

“I was so impressed by the service at Dopo Pizza & Pasta. We made a reservation for our anniversary on the Saturday night of Labor Day weekend. The restaurant was packed and they were running behind. Our table was delayed by 20 mins. That certainly could have tanked our evening but the manager and wait staff went above-and-beyond to make it up to us, offering wine and an appetizer on the house while we waited and continually checking in with us. Some problems can’t be avoided in a restaurant, but the way you handle them and take care of your guests are within the establishment’s control and the management of Dopo exemplified the “right” way to handle these things. Oh, and the food was great, too! Highly recommend the burrata app.”

“One of our favorite places in Truckee, both summer and winter. Very comfortable inside and outside, and always a nice atmosphere. They also have a really impressive wine selection, including some bottles that are not easy to find.

And definitely save room for the cookie skillet with ice cream! We get it almost every time and it’s worth it :)

I spotted a church building with a small sign that said, cafe open, as I was making my way out of town with haste. Alas, I found exactly what I needed. Score, big time. It is a beautiful, tranquil space, and the sandwich I had, Ban mi (add turkey)...beyond exquisite. The lavender drink concoction was eloquent and refreshing. Go here for a zen delicious af meal and very nice service.”

They are connected on the inside to the cornerstone bakery. This is where you pick up your lattes. The reason why I gave a 3 star for service is that once we ordered it took 30 to 45 mins for our food. At one point they were at an hour wait in the kitchen. Thankfully we were able to grab an indoor table right away, but if we hadnt grabbed it right when we walked in, we wouldn't have had a place to sit & eat. It looks like a lot of people got there food togo because of this.”

Do you know when you’ve gone somewhere once and the food was really great and then you go again and it’s not so great… Not with this place. It’s a little unassuming and a small strip mall in Truckee off the main drag, but that’s why I love this place! The food is fresh. The atmosphere is like the locals. It’s a great hangout spot when we were there a kids baseball team came in with their parents for food. Now this is a bar and restaurant with tons of TVs so be prepared the noise. It gets a little loud but well worth the visit. Services good the food is great and I’ll be back!

Most restaurants range from bad to mediocre, with a few notable exceptions, such as The Drunken Monkey and Moody's. Last year I would have included the Dining Room at Village Lodge in the "perfectly fine" category.But my wife and I went to dinner there last night (Jan 2024), and it was immediately clear that something had changed. The service was attentive and the menu was inspired. Andrew did a great job as our waiter. Before even ordering, I said to my wife that they must have a new chef, and indeed they do! It's made all the difference.I ordered the duck, my wife had the halibut, and we shared the steak tartare. It was all delicious. We paired it with a French Sancerre for an impeccable meal. Truly fine dining at a reasonable (by Tahoe standards) price.I should note that we were skiing earlier that day, and prior to dinner had a wonderful time getting to know some of the staff at the bar. We spent the night upstairs at the lodge (cute room), and the next morning had an equally good breakfast and equally good service from Bella. Also, they've put in a coffee bar right by the fireplace between the bar and the dining area. It's a nice place to warm up after a few runs.Highly recommended and worth the short drive up from Truckee.”

The food was exactly what we wanted! A watermelon non alcoholic spritz was so refreshing. Not sweet but more blended fruity mix. A hot tasty sandwich, perfectly crispy sweet potato fries and that day.. a velvety French onion soup. It was a different type of bread, bunch of spices and big slice of the cheese! So much cooked onions and a broth that tasted like it was cooked for hours, to get a deep rich beef taste. Staff was so friendly and nice. Will be going back to try their pizzas and salads!”

“Went to visit Cafe Lupine, at the suggestion of a friend and it was such a great experience. The atmosphere is extremely Inviting, the staff is both friendly and knowledgeable. There are comfy places and little nooks to sit, with padded cushions but also a beautiful outdoor patio area with nice seating and beautiful views of nature. I was on my way to volunteer at the Humane Society so one of my favorite ‘perks’ (pun intended) was Sophia, the friendly staff dog, who chills on the patio and greets you with a happy little tail wag, to let you know that she is so happy that you have decided to visit her home away from home and take a little break from all of life’s worries, agendas and everything else that can wait, while you take some time to relax and reset. Highly recommend stopping by to enjoy a coffee, matcha or one of their delicious pastries. You’ll be happy that you did. ♥️”
