“Today I visited the Smoke Door Sanryo for lunch with my friend Isao Yoshikawa, the father of the new chef Kosuke Yoshikawa. All I can say is this was a truly wonderful experience with each course in the set lunch menu delivering uniquely superb taste that was delicately balanced with sauces that were extremely delicious. This is fine dining that shouldn’t be missed if you’re in the Kings Beach area of Lake Tahoe.”

“let me tell you something. I grew up in Sun Valley. Tahoe is part of me. My sister called the night before. They didnt take reservations. But, we told them what was up. my sisters n I planned a weeks trip for my mother's 78th birthday. We hadn't all been all together since my littlest sister was 4... 36 yrs later we are all in one place. Our mother wanted to see her friends. Basically our second set of parents growing up. We pretty much pretended we were nonchalant about it. Their daughter n us put a scheme together to surprise them all. Weeks of planning. The night staff left a note for the morning staff. They open at noon. The party of three showed up at noon... us, the party of six showed up 10 minutes fashionably late. So we could surprise n give our elderly parents arrhythmia.The staff was awesome! Table ready, James our waiter was spectacular...the food.... awesome. Not many restaurants would be asking as people came in... are you the party of 9? lol my sister from another set of parents...as her mom confused said " no we are a party of 3" and her daughter leaned back and whispered ..." yes we are the party of 9. but they don't know shhhh!" it was spectacular! Thank you to the staff... you all rock! I hope if we ever make it back and you're still are rocking the vibe we got today, we will be there. You all take care of your staff. Today this place made our moment so special. We cant say Thank you enough.”

“I came in with a group of my most difficult and hard-to-please family friends, and even under their close scrutiny we had a great birthday celebration at Lanza's. The decor and atmosphere doesn't disappoint from my nostalgic memories, the decorative lampshades were dust-free and felt plush along with the tablecloths and cloth napkins. Each dish came out steaming and the portions were absolutely massive. We came for a birthday celebration and Justin served as a great specialty host, he made sure the staff sang to the birthday girl and they brought out a free dessert (spumoni ice cream) and made sure to circle back to take the dessert order for the rest of the table. His positive approach to hands-on service and hospitality made all the difference between a tense dinner, and a wonderful celebration”

“Great spot in Kings Beach/Tahoe Vista. Sit in the deck for lake views (from across the road) or the side deck to watch folks teeing off from 1st tee. Not your typical “19th hole” but it serves that purpose as well. Sit at the bar and get to know the bartenders - a great crew. Get the schnitzel on the menu or any of the mussel preparations.”

“Chai tea and Matcha tea are really good. Service is excellent. I gave 3 stars for food as they only offer pastries and a breakfast sandwich - the sandwich is very big and was good but was looking for more options.”

“What an amazing spot! Not only is the ice cream delicious. They have the most patient man working the ice cream counter. The flavors are listed ABOVE the counter so you can see while you stand in line. No charge for a topping, cute fireplace, plenty of seating. AND I went to the restroom and they had a handful of spare diapers for kiddos in need. That kind of thoughtful and caring touch is just amazing and goes a long way for a mom whose kid has been out of diapers for a long time. 😂

My kid’s review: this place is so good that I love it. Big sized ice creams, so make sure you’re sharing if you get a large. It’s super good. I’d recommend the sherbet. It’s got really good ice cream and the guy who served me is really nice.”
