“Today I visited the Smoke Door Sanryo for lunch with my friend Isao Yoshikawa, the father of the new chef Kosuke Yoshikawa. All I can say is this was a truly wonderful experience with each course in the set lunch menu delivering uniquely superb taste that was delicately balanced with sauces that were extremely delicious. This is fine dining that shouldn’t be missed if you’re in the Kings Beach area of Lake Tahoe.”

“let me tell you something. I grew up in Sun Valley. Tahoe is part of me. My sister called the night before. They didnt take reservations. But, we told them what was up. my sisters n I planned a weeks trip for my mother's 78th birthday. We hadn't all been all together since my littlest sister was 4... 36 yrs later we are all in one place. Our mother wanted to see her friends. Basically our second set of parents growing up. We pretty much pretended we were nonchalant about it. Their daughter n us put a scheme together to surprise them all. Weeks of planning. The night staff left a note for the morning staff. They open at noon. The party of three showed up at noon... us, the party of six showed up 10 minutes fashionably late. So we could surprise n give our elderly parents arrhythmia.The staff was awesome! Table ready, James our waiter was spectacular...the food.... awesome. Not many restaurants would be asking as people came in... are you the party of 9? lol my sister from another set of parents...as her mom confused said " no we are a party of 3" and her daughter leaned back and whispered ..." yes we are the party of 9. but they don't know shhhh!" it was spectacular! Thank you to the staff... you all rock! I hope if we ever make it back and you're still are rocking the vibe we got today, we will be there. You all take care of your staff. Today this place made our moment so special. We cant say Thank you enough.”

“Saw all the great reviews, so I thought we have to go there for dinner. As I arrived , I can see people waiting outside (must be busy), still I added my name to the wait list, it was about 1 hour when we got called. Read about the history of the place and Mama Lanza as we waited. Loved the atmosphere, there is a bar to the right as you enter and the main part of the restis to the left. They also have outside seating (picnic tables). They have a kids menu and descent size portions. Food was delicious, I wish I took pictures. The service was a little slower than expected, but overall I'd go there again.”

“This by far has been the most excellent restaurant I have dined at in all of Tahoe. The mushroom omelette that I had was excellent. The server was busy, but she made sure that I had everything that I needed and checked upon me frequently. The atmosphere was nice. It was breezy and outside and felt good. The prices were fair.Highly recommend.”

“This place deserves 10 Stars ⭐. Food is the best in ALL of Tahoe. If you want authentic taste and food that is made with care and respect that shows in how delicious, hot, and fresh it is. Come here. The staff is friendly. Able to eat there or to go. Seriously. I've tried almost all other places in Tahoe and this place hands down is the best besides the roach coach down the st.”

“Perfect little beach stand off the main road, we walked from our hotel but its just as close to the beach. The hot dogs looked and smelled delicious, my kid ordered the US hot dog. It hsd BBQ sauce with grilled onions & cheese, and a side of truffle mac. Both were yummy! Huge portions. The shave ice was okay - I like a fine shave ice/snowball, these were close. The flavors were okay, just typical syrups that taste artificial to me.

“The best chicken chimachanga! Crispy and filled with tons of flavor. Try a side of their green salsa.... I just can't get enough of that stuff. The chips are homemade (unsalted), and the perfect thickness to scoop up all that tasty sauce with a bit of rice and beans. A hard pass on the well margaritas, though. Too sweet for my taste. The staff is friendly and efficient. Your food comes out fast and hot and delicious. Enjoy!”

“We got the rib meal for four and added a half order of ribs. The food was great. Next time we would just order the family rib meal because it was more than enough food for four adults.”

“Loved this coffee spot in Kings beach. Good coffee, lattes were not overly sweet. Breakfast sandwiches were fresh and tasty. It would be awesome to have some bagel variety. The shop is small and feels crowded even with a few people, but they have outside seating. Overall, I recommend you try it out!”

“What an amazing spot! Not only is the ice cream delicious. They have the most patient man working the ice cream counter. The flavors are listed ABOVE the counter so you can see while you stand in line. No charge for a topping, cute fireplace, plenty of seating. AND I went to the restroom and they had a handful of spare diapers for kiddos in need. That kind of thoughtful and caring touch is just amazing and goes a long way for a mom whose kid has been out of diapers for a long time. 😂

My kid’s review: this place is so good that I love it. Big sized ice creams, so make sure you’re sharing if you get a large. It’s super good. I’d recommend the sherbet. It’s got really good ice cream and the guy who served me is really nice.”
