“We came here for lunch on one of our days in Truckee. We don't drink beer but we ordered some other drinks that were amazingly delicious. For our appy, we ordered these shrimp bao buns that were super flavorful. I ordered the bratwurst hotdog and that was yummy with a healthy helping of sauerkraut and two types of dip - cheese or grainy mustard. To be honest, that bratwurst wrapped in a pretzel bun could stand on its own without any dips...OMG! so good that u still remember how it tastes nearly a week after our trip. My husband ordered the turkey burger and that thing came loaded and he said it was one of the best turkey burgers he's ever had. We loved this place and will definitely be one of our go-tos in Truckee when we're up next! Thank you Alibi team...great work!“
“Went with a big group and got our own room. Service and food were outstanding! The Onion Soup, the Scallops, the Duck, the Wagyu steak were all universally praised. We didn't have anything that wasn't great. A single server handled our group of 15 and was up to the task. She had help when serving the table, but did the rest pretty much solo and crushed it. Yes, we paid alot for it, but if you want a special meal with a big group you'd be hard pressed to do better than Moody's.“
“Their pizzas are wonderful. Definitely worth trying if you haven't. Don't go there often as they are out of the way for us. I'm compelled to write this review because of a fee they are now charging for pizza boxes. It was just under $4 and is literally to cover the cost of the pizza box. Very odd. I ordered mine to go but I'd be curious if I ate it there and then asked for a to go box would they also charge me? To be honest that whole tactic rubs me the wrong way. Just increase the cost of you pizza to offset it. What's next, bathroom use fee? How about a dish wash fee? Obviously these are absurd examples but it's the same idea. All of this is the cost of doing business. Ultimately it's up to the owner to make their choices but I just wanted them to know that it's a bad approach. That's my two cents. Again the food is well worth the visit. Thanks.“
“It's better than the pastime! Haha I don't buy Budweiser, but they do sell it here unlike the bar a few doors down. Free popcorn too. There is a pole on the bar top and bullet holes in the ceiling. It's definitely a vibe. Best dive bar in town. If Callahan's working, you're in for some great service. The atmosphere is very entertaining!Locals like Airek and the Dynamic Duo make the experience!Parking: Just park at the post office around back. But shhhh.“
“We stopped for dinner after snowshoeing on a Monday. My calzone was delicious. The place was packed when we left. The one person was bar tending, waiting tables, and bussing tables. She did great for being by herself. ???I don't think it's normally this busy on a Monday. My first time here and I will be back!“
“Stopped for lunch with family. All 4 of us had the fish and chips an all of us agreed that that both were excellent. Honesty, one of the best I've every had! Both the fries and fish were cooked to perfection and the light, crispy batter on the fish was delicious! Kudos to the cook!“
“Awesome NY steaks and great fries! We were very comfortable sitting under the heaters on the balcony as we watched the foot traffic below. The art on the walls was lovely. Our wait staff was attentive and incredibly nice Prices were "Truckee Reasonable". This was our second visit and we will return. I recommend this comfortable place for good eats and good times.“
“Up until covid hit, I loved playing the Sunday night Open Mic here. The sound system was first rate, the crowd was always enthusiastic and friendly, and the bartender was terrific. The atmosphere is awesome and I am just waiting for the Open Mic to resume!“
“We hadn’t been to Cottonwood since before the pandemic. I’d heard it had struggled but it is definitely up to prior standards. The Brussel Sprouts were a delightful surprise, sweet and cooked with apples and bacon. I had the ginger carrot soup which was strong on the ginger, my husband had the French Onion soup which was really good and not too cheesy. My salmon was so big I almost couldn’t finish it- all the portions were large but this was the largest cut of fish I’ve ever had in a restaurant. It was perfectly cooked and had a really nice seasoning. My husband had the short ribs, also a good size portion, and he said it just melted in his mouth. If you haven’t been, Cottonwood sits on the old town hill by the “Hilltop” sign and at night you over look old town Truckee, all lit up. It’s a great view, very chill atmosphere and great food. Good wine list too!Vegetarian options: Not a lot of vegetarian options, but there were a couple including the meat loaf.“
“Great place rode the gondola up from North Star village. Our server Max was amazing! Food was great, atmosphere amazing. Definitely good place after a long day of skiing kids loved it too. Drinks were amazing too. Don’t let the negative reviews scare you off. Definitely come here and enjoy good food, drinks and atmosphere. It’s pricy but it’s the Ritz sooooooo.Kid-friendliness: My kids loved it. They also know how to behave in a nice restaurant.“
“Excellent food, great service. We had the garlic knots as an appetizer, and they were more original than any other I've had. They take the dough and roll it thin and slice it like cinnamon rolls. This delicate rolled dough is more pastry than knot, but that touch imbues it with the flavors of the freshly chopped garlic that adorns the top and sides, along with freshly cut parsley and the copious olive oil that the rolls sit in. Delicious! We also had the slice of the day, along with some Sicilian slices topped with mushrooms and fresh basil. Often when pizzerias say they have basil as a topping, it's dried basil, and that seems like cheating as it's just another dried spice or herb. But here we had piles of freshly chopped basil that had that amazing aroma wafting into our noses as we dined. The Sicilian slices are thicker than their normal slice -what they call "New York thin." There is a toastiness to the crust edges that was quite satisfying. If you're ever in Truckee, this is the place for amazing pizza and friendly service.“
“Pretty good! Definitely a tourist spot but the Margi's are great. Locals may want to seek atmosphere elsewhere. I was there in the middle of the day on a week day, took a bus call, 5 mins and was "talked too" by the staff accusing me of harming the ambiance... So, good for decent tex mex dinner but not a great watering hole for locals...“
“This was the perfect place to stop for lunch and a drink. We got the burger and grilled cheese with tomato bisque plus a 50/50 beer and the fizzle dance (gin fizz). Everything was yummy (except the beer was okay)! There wasn't much seating so don't think I'd want to do dinner here but worked well for lunch. I think they have other seating areas open during lunch though. Staff was friendly. Overall great place to stop in for a delicious quick bite.“
