“When we got to Virginia City, the town was deserted. We were about to head back to Reno. Then we discovered this little bar. The ambience is amazing. At this place you have the opportunity to meet real locals. A clear recommendation for anyone who wants to experience some authentic impressions of Virginia City. A beer for $2 is also the best we've seen on our USA trip.“
“A little unusual in that you have to order your food on one side and your beer on the other side. I guess it's actually two businesses operating together but they make it work. Great food, nice cold beer and classic Virginia City atmosphere. The bartender was wearing a Harley shirt so we had instant rapport and great conversation.“
“A historic saloon that has some excellent, unique beers on tap. Wine is Barefoot by the mini bottle only which was fine. Food is not served but you can bring your food in and then order drinks. It is nice because not near the crowds and the wait like the Palace Saloon. On a Sunday we did not have to wait for a table! Darts are available too!“
“Out of the way, Sweet little old town dive bar. Mostly locals with occasional tourist. Ricky bar maid was as pleasant as a southern peach. All the patrons were super friendly and it was very comfortable. I imagine this could be a fun place on a Friday or Saturday night. I will be back for more fun!!“
“Stopped in Virginia City for a nice date day. Had to get a juicy all beef dog from the Ponderosa Saloon. Grabbed some drinks & listened to some music. The history & the energy is so interesting & overwhelming. This city calls to me & I let myself come for adventures quiet often. One thing I hadn't done yet is go through the Ponderosa Mine. This time I got to venture into the depths of the wet earth about 400ft! My anxiety was kicking in half way through the tour but I managed ok. Breathing techniques are a must if you do not like cramped small underground spaces. The tour guide I forgot his name sorry. But he is in the video I added. He deserves credit where credit is due! Tall guy doesn't work Fridays lol he was super informative about the miners and the history behind it. I knew life was harder back then considering the circumstances but to hear the in-depth knowledge of how the miners had to drink 2 pints of whiskey a day because no water was really available. I want to come back and explore more. There are lots of cool artifacts on display from guns and rifles to saws and gems shaver balls lol if you visit the Virginia city stop by the Ponderosa for a shot & a dog before you go into the mine. The mine was $27 for two of us to go in and it fills up fast so get there earlier then the time you want to go I think it's every hour.“
“I had an incredible experience at Palace restaurant in Virginia City! The pastrami sandwich I tried was absolutely delicious—bursting with flavor! I highly recommend this spot not only for its fantastic food but also for the charming atmosphere of the area. A must-visit destination!“
“Awesome bar in Virginia City to visit and stay awhile. Beautifully decorated inside. Fun billiards room with great lighting and a VC mountain range view. Full bar with all the good options for drinks. Plenty of seating at the bar or a cute table. Owners Mike and Michelle are very welcoming. Come to Virginia City and have a drink or a cigar.“
“I came in for some pizza and also ended up getting the egg rolls. The pizza was just right. The vegi pizza had a ton of garlic. Luckily that’s exactly how I like it, but I know that’s now everyone’s thing. The egg rolls are pretty much the same you get at jack in the box, but fried a bit longer so they are more crispy. In a town with not many options for food. I can definitely say this isn’t a bad choice. With that said I would have preferred to give them a 3.7 rating, but that isn’t an option on google“
“People say both old habits and bad grass never die. A saloon named after Mark Twain would probably agree that both sayings are great virtues to live up to. Because if you can not kill something, then you find a way to paint it pretty. Habitual habitats for old spirits. Quite fitting. Especially since old spirits never die. Neither did the businesses of Virginia City. Which remains the only fully functional ghost town that continues to thrive. Patrons should be aware of this noteworthy mention. At Marks Twains place, every hour is haunted. While any hour is considered happy as long as the conversations are creative.“
“Fun little spot with a wild west vibe. Keep in mind, no food except popcorn, which my kids loved. The server was awesome and so good to me and my kids. We all had lots of fun drinks and enjoyed the honky-tonk music. Neat historical saloon. I recommend! Spent $70 on drinks for me and my teens. They liked the vibe, light fixtures, and Shirley temples.Get there early, before the music starts, to find a spot to sit. Old timers from all around will flock here.Kid-friendliness: For a bar, it's funny that this place is so kid friendly, but it is. Keep in mind, my kids are 11-16.“
