Taken over 2 months ago by Mehfil and will be renamed, good Indian food with genuine Indian spices, at last I found good spicy and tasty curries and chicken tikka, garlic Naan, definitely going to be on my regular eating list for Truckee

We went in last night, after being told the restaurant waits in Tahoe City were 50 minutes (or not even available because they were all filled up). Were we SO glad we took the 15 minute drive to Truckee. They have renamed the place---it is now Mehfil Indian Bistro. Other than one other family we were the only ones there. We ordered and the food came very quickly. It was delicious! We got Samosa Chaat, Onion Kulcha, and the Mehfil Biryani. So much food! The owner recommended the Gulab Jaman for dessert---it was sublime. Deep fried balls of dough in a wonderful sweet apricot syrup. We had enough leftovers for lunch the next day. (Except the dessert; next time I'm not sharing!)

Ordered ahead to pick up, they told us it'll be ready in 30 min. Went in to pick it up and they said it would be another 20 min - waited again. Still nothing - they kept saying it'll be out any minute. So waited an additional 15 min. Next, out of nowhere the chef comes out to say he's just beginning to prepare the meal. I was quite upset, because it had already been about an hour and a half. He told me to leave if I don't want to wait because apparently this is standard?!Extremely rude! Do not waste your time here.

This is not the place to go for good Indian food. The meat is dry and too salt. The spice was way off. No comparison to the other Indian restaurants we went to.

Not really Indian food. The spices are not right. The meat was very dry. If you want real Indian food go somewhere else. The only thing that was good was the Naan bread.

Seriously! It was great! Don't know what is up with the bad reviews. I eat Indian as much as possible and this place was great. Had the eggplant. It was perfect.
The garlic naan was so perfect I almost cried. Crispy, light and fluffy with plenty of garlic. Everything was exceptional. My husband loves shrimp coconut curry. It wasn’t on the menu and the chef made it anyway. It was excellent!! The chicken tika masala and paneer masala were the best we’ve had in America. The ambience is lacking but the staff is sweet and the food is memorable. I’m still dreaming of that naan! I’m so happy we stopped in. Wish y’all were located in NC! I’d visit weekly.

Ever since they went under new ownership, Flame has been the go-to for excellent takeout. I love their samosas and chana masala- strongly recommend! The staff are usually friendly and the interior is fun.

My family and friends came here while on route to Reno in March. We were craving Indian food and luckily found this spot. I'm just now getting around to write the review. The staff is very courteous and even got up to help us while on break. The food is simply amazing. We had cholay, shahi paneer, naan, and rice. The portions are perfect and it is finger licking good. The curry and spices are very authentic.
