Terrible service, always closed, is the only place in the village for NS staff to buy an affordable meal , everything else is on the mountain.

Awful food…which is what happens when you have limited food choices. Come on Northstar please add more food establishments to the village. Plenty of (high margin) clothing stores.Anyway back to the Frites, warning, anytime you see dark chicken tenders or fries….that usually means they are not cycling the fat…and when that happens, bad toxins build up…As far as service at Frites, you know something is not good, when they are ask for a gratuity up front.Run away!

Awful food. Given how few food establishments there are in the village, those that are there must be great! Alas, Frites is not. It's terrible. Warning, any time you see very dark color on chicken strips or fries, usually means the oil is not being replaced on an appropriate number of heat cycles.......a way of saving money...dangerous toxins build up.... As to "service" you know something is up, when they ask for the gratuity when you place the order... Despite Frites being one of just a handful of food establishments, it's not worth the risk. Northstar - replace them...

Way overpriced but it was tasty. The garlic fries were very flavorful and they offer a variety of sauces. 50% off the overpriced fry if you buy an overpriced beer.

Pretty decent food, piss poor customer service. There was a single person working the entire shack during the holiday season. Wait times were long because for half an hour he took orders, and the other half he made food and set it under a heat lamp where the horde of customers he created couldn't get to it. He actively ignored customers at the window regardless of whether or not the food was finished and wouldn't acknowledge those waiting for their already completed food. Again, piss poor customer service. Makes you think whether or not he even really worked there.

so it's a Saturday night the beer fest is going and there's a whole line at this fries place so of course being the fry lover that I am and WORKING FOR NORTHSTAR I go in wait super patiently. The girl at the stand asks for me to wait because the cook is still trying to catch up. I wait for 30 minutes. As a perk for working at Northstar we get a 50% discount so knowing that I have that privilege I ask for it and the girl working on July 6th,2019 @ the truck during Beer Fest was a total bitch. She rolled her eyes at me when I mentioned I get a discount she tried to charge be $20 for a $10 fries and a CAN of beer. She tried to talk over me and even REFUSED to give me my rightful discount. Attitudes like that DONT fly. If you CANT HANDLE THE RUSH DONT WORK IT. I can't stand these employees who can't handle the rush and end up being a BITCH. She even had the audacity to scoff and roll her eyes at me when she noticed I didn't tip. Wonder why?? DING DING DING TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE DONT EVER COME HERE GUYS

Paid 15.00 for chili fries, the fries themselves were very good. They are thick cut and cooked perfectly. The toppings were sparse, I couldn't even tell you what the chili tasted like because there was only about a TBSP on the fries. A bean fell off to the ground and my husband said you dropped the only chili bean we had, it was that bad. Couldn't even tell you if they put cheese on it because if they did once again was so sparse couldn't see or taste it. Basically we ended up eating a 15.00 bowl of fries. Not impressed for what we paid.

I AM A HUGE FRENCH FRY FANATIC, so I was really really looking forward to these fries. My friends and I ordered the garlic fries and truffle oil fries. For around $25, I was expecting something pretty amazing. They give you pretty big portions, but other than that it's nothing "gourmet." The fries were VERY thick cut. I honestly prefer skinnier ones. The garlic ones had pretty good flavor but the truffle oil ones just tasted weird. Will I be back? Probably not. Would I rather just grab a large fries from McDonalds? Definitely.

Fries are thicker and crispy which is nice. The toppings are very minimum, especially given the price. Overall they were fine but I wouldn't go back or recommend them. At least not the truffle fries. Maybe others are better.

My family and I stayed at Northstar for a week and when I saw this place I was really excited. VERY PRICEY! I got the short rib fries which were $16.50 and would be shareable with another person if it were an app. I gave the girl a $20 bill and she handed me $1.45 back.....there's tax too. Where I live there isn't tax and I feel like their sign should say + tax. Anyhow, I waited for a bit as they were busy. People who ordered after me started getting their food and I waited longer. Finally, a guy poked his head out of the window and asked what I was waiting for. I told him is was the short rib fries and he said "uhhh it'll be ready in 5, 6 or 7 minutes." Frustrating. I got my fries and more than 70% of the short rib meat was actually giant chunks of inedible fat. I ate the fries and threw the rest away. Def not worth even half of what I paid. Basically Red Robin fries with bbq sauce on them.

Just finished tough mudder, so you could just imagine how hungry I was, and stumbled upon this place in the middle of northstar village. These fries definitely did not disappoint! I tried the chili cheese, garlic, and poutine fries. The fries were the perfect size, not too thick but not too thin and fried perfectly. Poutine had a generous portion of gravy (all at the bottom though) and the right amount of cheese curds while the chili cheese fries got a little too soggy from all the Chili cheese (definitely need to eat this with a fork). My favorite has to be the garlic fries! You pay a hefty price for these fries considering the portions aren't that large, but cannot deny it's deliciousness!!

This place is horrible! $12 garlic fries with no garlic and no sauce! Frozen garbage product. I went to ask for some sauce and they said no I had to pay extra! So I returned the fries with 3 eaten and they refused! Do not eat here! These people are crooks!

Gave me a basket of fries with a hair on it. When I pointed it out, the guy working the stand took the basket back without a word, showed it to the two other people working there, turned his back to me, and then turned around and silently presented me with what I am 99% sure was the same basket with the hair pulled off. The fries had originally come from the left side of the "store" and were brought by another person. At that point I just asked for a refund even though the fries otherwise looked fine and I had a group waiting behind me. One star because they gave me the refund, also in silence ...

Best garlic fries I've had at any mountain resort!!! This is a small pop up shop in Northstar Mountain Resort. I hate buying food at resorts, but of course you wanna eat. These fries are absolutely the best I've ever had. You really don't need any dip because the garlic is enough to take you away. They have other poutines you can try as well. Order a beer out here while you're at it. They have some fancy dipping sauces you can get as well, some come with extra costs. the Aioli was delicious, but I felt like it didn't go that well with the garlic fries. I literally will buy this every time I go to Northstar. It's a little pricey BUT it comes with A LOT OF fries. My boyfriend and I shared it and we were pleasantly satisfied.

Really wanted to try the first night we got to Truckee, but unfortunately they close early. So we made sure to get there early in the afternoon and have lunch with fries. My friend didn't want to share, so we ended up getting two orders. She got the poutine, I got the regular fries and beer cheese. The woman (owner?) was too sweet and very apologetic to all the customers as she is the only one working. It did take about 15 minutes, and I wish I could have asked her for just half a portion as it was just too much! The fries were so good, so tasty, and the beer cheese...yummmm! Highly recommend for a good snack or meal!
