Austin, the owner/bartender was very friendly and the selection of beer was great. The bar was beautiful as well.Austin even made reservations for us to eat at a great restaurant in Tahoe City called Sunnyside Restaurant where we were seated at a table with a lake view. Thank you so much Austin, we were treated very well and will definitely stop in again at The Hoppy Duck next time we are in the area.

Came 2 days ago. Building looked vacated, sign above the restaurant had been removed, and Google reports it as Temporarily Closed.

Staying at Northstar, wanted to try a much different experience from dining at the Ritz Carlton, a true locals experience to watch the game and drink some beer and eat some food. There are a lot of other options more upscale, geared towards visitors with more gourmet food than burgers, chicken fingers, and fries, but if you want simple tavern food with a huge beer selection and to hangout amongst locals and not tourists, this IS the place to go. I can't emphasize how great the beer/cider selection is. Wine available too I believe. A totally casual Apres-Ski local hangout. Not a big place with a lot of room to sit so get there early or be prepared for standing room only during peak times.

The most underrated, hidden gem in Truckee! The food (Chili Cheese Dog, Beer Cheese Pretzel, and Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup) was phenomenal. Cooked to order… we absolutely loved everything. Over forty beer taps featuring local breweries!! Warm tummies and happy hearts. Honestly though… its the owner who makes this review worth 5 stars. He was simply the kindest and more caring individual. A breath of fresh air and the perfect welcoming to a mountain town getaway!! Thanks for Duckin’ good time! ?

GREAT SERVICE. The beer-tender was so knowledgeable and friendly. We had a wonderful time. Beer was great and the food was excellent. Definitely a must if you love beer and good company.

Friendly bartender, yummy Bavarian pretzel, delicious stout. Great stop!

Meh. Food was super bland, but maybe that's just because the only gluten free items were. Probably won't be back.

Love this place. Good vibe. Great tap list, from all over the western states (and more) with some phenomenal beers.

Horrible. Didn't even get a chance to eat the food or try the beers on tap. We came with 3 families, a total of 15 people. 7 were kids and 1 just turned 1. We sat, got situated and when I went in to order, the older gentleman/bartender simply refused our party. He stated it was too big of a party and wouldn't accommodate us. Kids literally would've ordered chicken tenders and fries. Didn't even say your food would take longer for a bigger party, simply outright said he wouldn't do it. He went on to make excuses that other parties were going to come in... if there were 3 parties of 5, it would've worked out better for him? Who effing knows. Never going back there just for that experience and we definitely told the next restaurant and bars/breweries we went to.

WOW! What a great place! Decided to try this for the Eats and Beer ( for the hubby!). The FIRST visit we shared the Truckee cheesesteak. The meat was soooo tender. Serving it on a sourdough roll was spectacular. We ate out on the deck and enjoyed the action on Donner Pass Road! Hubby sipped Pliny Elder and loved it. Our bartender that evening was Scott who was so attentive. We wanted to further explore the menu as we saw some tasty wings and burgers. What a total treat! The wings were ample and burger, unbelievable. Bobby was spot on to take our order. Andrew is an amazing cook and served up the best plates! Thanks, owner, Bob for a great crew that knows how to deliver.

Came here for a midday lunch and absolutely LOVED the food and vibes of this place! We got a grilled cheese, a cheeseburger, and the Buffalo chicken sandwich--all came with beer battered fries that were so delicious. We also ordered a side of the beer cheese which was soooo good. The inside has a really cool and relaxed vibe, and the bartender Bobby was super accommodating for all of our special requests and made sure we got everything we had asked for (extra ranch, sauce on the side etc.)! A great place for lunch and not too expensive compared to some of the other lunch places in the area. Will definitely return the next time I'm vacationing in Truckee!

Came in during Truckee Thursday for dinner. This place is a little walk past the end of the event, but I'm glad we stopped in. The decor was interesting to say the least and the tables and benches were quite sticky so I was kind of apprehensive about ordering food here as it seems more geared toward beer. Fortunately all four of us were very happy with our meals. They came out quickly and smoking hot. Two of us had the Philly cheesesteak and we thought they were great. Bread was soft and the meat tender and flavorful. The burger was cooked perfectly and was huge. My husband said the chili dog was probably the best he's ever had and the root beer was the real deal. The fries were piping hot, crisp, and tasty. Glad we chose to dine here rather than at one of the food trucks where you would have to fight for a table and would have had to sit or stand in the sun.
