A Cozy and Relaxing Taproom in Truckee

Located at the end of the main strip in Truckee, this taproom is the perfect spot for anyone looking to unwind with a great beer. They have an impressive selection of draft beers, along with wines and other beverages, ensuring there's something for everyone.

While the food menu closes a bit early, it offers some solid options that are perfect for a casual bite. The taproom's main draw, however, is the relaxed atmosphere and the ample seating. There's a ton of outdoor seating with heated tables, which is a fantastic feature for cooler evenings. You can also grab a spot inside if you prefer.

Street parking is available, but it can get busy, so be prepared for that during peak times. This is a great place to meet up with friends or family for a relaxing time. If you're looking for a low-key, friendly spot, this is it.

Our family goes to Lake Tahoe most every year, and we dine at Old Town Tap most every time and it is always good. Sitting outside today taking in the fresh air was sublime. The Brussel sprouts we had today were some of the best I've had. The stracciatella was just excellent. The pizza and mushroom Mac and cheese were delicious. They do a great job with drinks and great variety of beer on tap. We highly recommend Old Town Tap.

Super Fast Service and Great Pizza.

Warm olive appetizers were good, but be aware ALL of the Olives still had their pits, so eating them was a bit tedious.

After spending some time at the Farmers Market, my boyfriend and I decided to try Old Town Tap. The menu sounded good, and it was relatively busy.

We had a terrible experience with the service and our food. The waitress took a while to acknowledge us and the first thing she asked was do you want anything to drink? She didn’t introduce herself, explain the menu or specials, she answered one question about a dish, took our order, and then walked away. She was not personable at all and didn’t recommend anything on the menu. As someone in the hospitality industry, I expect attentive service at a pricey full service restaurant.

Once we received our mushroom pizza, the waitress returned but didn’t ask how it was or if we needed anything. Additionally, we had to ask the bartender for a cup of ice since a bottle of warm water was placed on our table. Shout out to the bartender!

The pizza was oily, bland and doughy, which wasn’t particularly appetizing. I had one small slice and couldn’t eat anymore. The dough had a weird taste, and I’m not sure why. Consider adding a garnish like fresh herbs or arugula for some color… Had the waitress been more observant, she would have noticed amongst two people we only ate half of one 12 in pie. The next time we saw her as it was hard to track her down we immediately asked for the check and a box. Those should have been three obvious “red flags” regarding our experience, and perhaps that should have alerted her to have a manager touch our table.

I entered the restaurant slightly hungry and left starving.

Great food, great service, and love the mocktails. Server was very accommodating with our substitution requests. We had cheese and pepperoni pizzas, salads, meatballs, and charcuterie board. The only lil negative was the amount of items on the charcuterie board for the price. There is outdoor seating as well as large, long tables for families inside.

I came in with three teenagers on Saturday night and had a great time, great food, and great service. The boys were very hungry after a day of mountain biking, and our waitress went above and beyond to have our appetizers come right away, and prioritized our other dishes to get them out very quickly. The Brussels sprouts were really good (I asked for no salt on top), the fried cheese curds were good (the green sauce is a bit odd and too sweet for me), the pizza was top notch, the mac and cheese was excellent, along with the very tasty meat balls and my favorite bone marrow.

We ordered a set of seven pizzas, almost all the kinds in the menu. They were small (12”) but delicious.

There’s a few things to start with. Our waitress was nice but only half our food came and the other half didn’t come until we ask them to reorder the food. Dirty dishes piled up on the table and we were all hungry. Shortly after eating three people in our party got food poisoning after eating the cheese curds. They also double charged us for the oily mac and cheese. We only had one order! Not sure we’ll ever get our money back, disappointed in our experience.
