I have eaten inside 399 Vietnamese Kitchen countless times, and it is on point every time. The servers are very courteous. The pho never requires any toppings or sauces, because the broth and seasoning are perfect on their own. I also love all of the banh-mi, noodle dishes, and shaken beef. It feels so good to find your favorite place!

Just came here bc it was empty and we had a big party, but the servers were good and the food was fresh. I especially recommend the fried egg rolls (the crispy batter is light and crunchy) and the vermicelli sheet dish. I picked egg rolls and grilled chicken and it was so delish!!I didnt think I would review the place so the pics are the food almost gone! Haha

My experience at 399 was so good I was inspired to leave a review! We came around dinner time on a Saturday. It was kind of quiet and the atmosphere was relaxing. We came to check it out during OC Restaurant week. They had an amazing deal: Dinner for 2 for $55. We went with 1 app and 2 entrees. The portions were good and the ingredients were quality. I also loved the plates they used to serve. Very pleasant experience overrall and great for the deal they had going!

Service is terrible! The appetizer came out halfway through the meal. The server never once came by to check on how the meal or to refill the empty tea cup.The tofu spring rolls have deep fried tofu in it. That is strange and should be put within the description.

It's just mediocre. The seasoning taste is strong. The brisket is hard, probably from frozen.

Clean, good food, good service. The price is a little higher but it is at the marketplace. Food is authentic and pho broth is very good.

This is the second time I attempted to eat at this place and they decided to close early. Either honor your posted hours or update your Yelp posting.Only reason I tried a second time is because my wife likes this place. I guess I'll have to take her word for it.

This was my first time and it did not disappoint! The broth was so well seasoned and the perfect temperature (hot!), and the egg rolls were so yummy. The egg rolls looked different than what I'm used to, but they did not disappoint! The restaurant is very clean and open, with lots of seating options. Service was friendly and easy going. If you've been curious about this place, I highly encourage checking it out, it's really really good!

Tasty albeit a bit pricier Vietnamese option at the Tustin Marketplace. Located between JSan Ramen and Class302, 399 adds to the diversity of food options tucked in this corner of the marketplace. The interior is nice, clean, and spacious, and the servers are sweet. The servers seem to be on the younger side and not too familiar with their own menu (indicating the wrong dish when asked what dish a picture represented or not knowing a certain dish doesn't come with protein) or restaurant processes (time-consuming endeavor to get a common coupon processed). However, these things can easily be fixed with some training. The food itself is generally decent to great. Some items, like the egg rolls and fish sauce, are on the great end of the spectrum. The egg rolls have a nice delicate fried lace texture on the outside and a meaty full filling on the inside. It goes perfectly with their fish sauce which has a bit of thickness to it and has a good tang to it (on the sweeter side). The pho is decent - the broth is not too oily or intense. It's a good option if you're craving some nice warm broth - the meat is tender and well cooked. However, the vermicelli seems to be the better dish here. With the vermicelli, you get to choose from up to two different proteins, including grilled pork, pork patties, grilled chicken, a couple types of egg rolls, and tofu. You can't go wrong with the egg rolls, and the grilled pork is flavorful. The only downside is the grilled pork can be overly fatty at times. The accompanying fresh veggies (lettuce, sliced carrots and radish, and cucumbers + cilantro and green onions), the crushed peanuts and crispy shallots as well as the accompanying fish sauce make this an excellent dish. The banh mi is also a pretty good option if you're looking for something a bit heartier. For $10, it provides better bang for your buck since it's pretty filling. The garlic noodles are also pretty tasty (strong garlic and umami flavors), but it doesn't come with anything other than noodles (you can add protein for additional charge). While prices aren't outrageous, there is certainly an upcharge for location. The food is generally enjoyable, but for the price point, likely not enough to draw folks from further away. With that said, this place is closer to a 3.5. If you're in the area and want Vietnamese food, 399 offers a nice, fresh option with a pretty diverse menu.

I was excited to try out this restaurant with my family. 2 of my kids ordered the exact meal, which was steak, and each requested for their steak to be prepared medium. One steak came out medium, and the other steak came out between medium-well and well-done. We just kept it and didn't complain about it, because it took a long time to get our food, considering how quick other Vietnamese restaurants are from the time you order to when your food is served. In hindsight, I should've, because I regret having paid $25 for a steak that wasn't cooked as requested. They gave my kids free lychee drinks, which came with their meals. One lychee drink was good, and the other one was horrible. We couldn't really describe the taste other than "un-drinkable", and we didn't want to send it back or complain because it was free. Wouldn't you think they would taste exactly the same? Haha Pho was ok, but didn't stand out from other phos around the area. This restaurant was on a roll, and to confirm that I will not be a repeat customer, I have a young child who doesn't particularly enjoy Vietnamese cuisine, so I brought in his own food. We were told for future reference outside food wasn't allowed. I didn't see a visible sign of any kind, so I thought it was okay. We were never told by any other business that it wasn't okay to bring in food for our young child. Rule are rules, and I respect that. However, because of this, we definitely won't be returning to this establishment, and this eliminates other families with young picky eaters as well. I truly hope they make some adjustments and improvements if they want to stick around.
